SELINSGROVE, Pa. - #8 Lebanon Valley College scored five second-half goals as it opened its season with a shutout victory Tuesday night, blanking Susquehanna University 6-0.
The Dutchmen (1-0) recovered from the slow start as the Crusaders (0-1) stayed in the game until a three-goal spurt by LVC midway through the second half put the game away.
Allison Bicher, making her first career start, scored twice for LVC, and
Shelly Lobach notched a goal and two assists.
Cait Eckenrode scored what held up as the game-winner with the season's first goal in the 25th minute.
Eckenrode put LVC on the board with her unassisted goal at 24:01, but SU managed to turn aside 11 other LVC shots in the first period thanks to five first-half saves by goalkeeper Erin Ferguson.
The Dutchmen got back on track with
Avery Carter's goal, assisted by Lobach on a penalty corner a minute into the second half. Bicher then sandwiched her two goals around a strike by Lobach, all in a span of seven minutes, to put the game out of reach.

Cate Cusack put the icing on the cake with her first career goal in the 65th minute off
Jenni Walker 's second assist of the game.
Caitlin Baro made five saves off seven Crusader shots to earn the shutout, the 16th of her career. Ferguson made 11 saves off 27 LVC shots. LVC held a 12-3 penalty corner advantage.
Lebanon Valley will visit the University of Mary Washington on Saturday.
