ANNVILLE, Pa. - In an important Commonwealth Conference volleyball match, Lebanon Valley College swept Lycoming, 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-17) to put some separation between the two schools in the conference standings. Both team entered the match with identical 2-1 records in the Commonwealth Conference. With the win, the Dutchmen move to 3-1 while the Warriors falls to 2-2.
There is now a logjam at second place in the conference, as LVC is just one of three teams at 3-1 in league play. The Dutchmen are joined by Widener and Messiah in a group behind Elizabethtown, which sits in the catbird seat at 4-0.
The Dutchmen again were near flawless on the attack, finishing the match with a .322 hitting percentage. LVC totaled 36 kills as a team with only seven errors on 90 attempts. Joelle Snyder had an errorless game from her hitter spot, sending in 10 kills on 21 total attacks. Jess Raber and Emily Hopkins each added seven kills. Michelle Little came through with five and Nicole Barra ended the match with three kills.
Raber was big in the serving game, with four of LVC's 10 aces. Little and Snyder each served up two aces and Angela Kuperavage and Emily Perkins each had one.
Perkins dished out 30 assists, many off of Kuperavage's team-high 18 digs. Raber completed her multi-dimensional match with seven digs and two block assists. Snyder was in on three blocks, making one stop by herself. Jamie Hawk and Perkins each assisted on two blocks as LVC had five total team blocks.
Lebanon Valley is back in action this weekend at the Frostburg Quad hosted by Frostburg State University in Maryland.
