TOWSON, Md. - Lebanon Valley stretched its winning streak to seven matches as it got past Goucher College, 7-2, in non-conference play.
The Dutchmen (7-0, 3-0 CC) took two of three doubles and five of six singles matches as it handed Goucher (5-1) its first loss of the season.
LVC's lone doubles loss came at No. 2, where Carly Heinz and Mara Begman worked a tiebreak to defeat
Tamera Lobb and
Shayna Heintzelman, 9-8 (7-3). LVC picked up wins at No. 1, with
Sarah Grodzinski and
Lauren Fulmer topping Joan Pulupa and Meaghan Lee, 8-1, and at No. 3, as
Jess Ferlenda and
Lauren Pyle beat Ilana Gross and Vickey Casey, 8-3.
In singles, Grodzinski and Heintzelman cruised to wins at Nos. 1 and 2, with Grodzinski beat Heinz 6-1, 6-1 and Heintzelman winning 6-1, 6-4, over Pulupa. Lobb defeated Bergman, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 3, and Lee earned Goucher's lone singles point with a 6-3, 6-3 win over
Caitlin Bedford at No. 4.
Fulmer blanked Zick, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5, and Ferlenda needed a tiebreak to defeat Casey at No. 6, -5, 4-6, 10-7.
LVC will be home Saturday morning against King's.
