ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College pulled out a back-and-forth struggle with Misericordia University, 47-43, in non-conference play Wednesday night.

The Dutchmen (4-1) held on despite a late comeback bid by the Cougars (1-3). Both teams had woeful nights shooting, with both sides shooting below 33 percent from the floor and 60 percent from the line.

Lori Lidlow led LVC with 17 points and Andrea Hoover came up big in the final moments, dishing out two of her six assists to help LVC secure a late lead. Mindy Bennett scored eight points and pulled in seven rebounds.

Courtney Sykes (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Lacey DeGraw (12 points, 10 rebounds) both posted double-doubles for MU.

The truly hot-and-cold game saw the momentum swing wildly in both directions. LVC held MU without a field goal for the opening 6:05 of the game, but the Dutchmen went ice-cold after that as the Cougars hit a massive 18-2 run over the final 7:06 of the half to turn a 22-9 LVC lead into a 27-24 MU edge at the break.

The Cougars kept at it to start the second half, going up six on Lindsey Sykes' layup with 12:29 to go. But in a reversal of the first half, LVC then embarked on an 11-0 run keyed by some outstanding defense and an unsettled Cougar offense.

Up six, LVC then gave up a Courtney Sykes three-pointed and a DeGraw lay-up, and Jesse Robinson's bucket stole the lead back at 43-42 with 2:57 left.

The Dutchmen rolled out of a timeout with Caitlin Murphy's three-point play to go up two, and after DeGraw was fouled and missed both free throws, Megan Bish was fed down low by a spectacular Hoover feed for the game's final bucket with 57 seconds left.

MU took three cracks, but was unable to sink a basket despite LVC missing a pair of foul shots in the final seconds.

LVC will be in action this weekend at the Salisbury University Classic, starting Friday against York College (N.Y.).
