ANNVILLE, Pa.
- The Lebanon Valley College women's tennis team clinched the top seed in the Commonwealth Conference championship tournament Wednesday with a 9-0 blanking of Messiah College.

The Dutchmen (10-2, 4-0 CC) are now assured of the top seed into next spring's team championships. The Falcons fell to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play and are the only team that could tie LVC for first if the Dutchmen were to lose their remaining match.

LVC pulled off the sweep thanks to a pair of three-set wins at singles by Sarah Grodzinski and Charissa Nordall.

The Dutchmen swept doubles, led by an 8-5 win at No. 1 by Nordall and Jan White as they pushed their season record to 6-0.

In singles, LVC won handily at No. 2 with Kelly Moll's 6-4, 6-4 victory over Stacey Clark, at No. 4 thanks to Sammy Burkey's 6-2, 6-4 win against Katie Marstaller, and at No. 6 with Sara Wagner's 6-3, 6-3 victory against Steph Knepper.

Grodzinski had to gut out a 6-2, 5-7 (10-7) marathon against Christie McGinley to win at No. 1, and Nordall also worked three as she won 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 over Annie Gotchel. Shayna Heintzelman picked up a win at No. 5 against Sarah Thow, 7-6 (3), 6-0.

LVC will wrap up their conference slate at Lycoming Saturday.
