ANNVILLE, Pa. - The No. 3 Lebanon Valley College field hockey team won its 16th game in a row Saturday, overwhelming Widener University, 7-0, in a Commonwealth Conference game.
The Dutchmen (16-0, 2-0 CC) were absolutely dominant, outshooting the Pride (11-4, 1-2 CC) 35-1 and not allowing a shot for the first 59 minutes of the game.
Senior Shauna Enck led LVC with a hat trick, and eight other Dutchmen recorded a point. Sophomore Nicole Bomberger put LVC on the board in the ninth minute, taking junior Avery Carter's corner and firing a shot from the arc.
Enck followed up with her first a minute later, collecting a rebound off Alex Wolfe's shot and burying the finish. Wolfe got her own tally at 22:37, scoring off freshman Shelly Lobach's cross.
The second half opened with a flurry of LVC goals as Enck scored two within the span of 1:38 to complete her hat trick.
Freshman Sarah Bevans added Lebanon Valley's sixth goal at 42:14, and freshman Marisa Maxwell scored her first career goal at 53:43, tipping classmate Rachel Pantalone's shot through the legs of Megan Pursell.
Sophomore Caitlin Baro and freshman Emma Taylor combined for the shutout, with Baro taking the win. Neither needed to make a save. Purcell made 15 stops for Widener.
LVC held whopping advantages in shots (35-1) and penalty corners (21-3).
The Dutchmen will look to clinch a Commonwealth Conference playoff spot Tuesday, heading to Albright College at 3:30 p.m.
