ANNVILLE, Pa.  – Senior Natalie Goodfellow tied Lebanon Valley's career kills record and was named tournament MVP, leading LVC to a third-place finish at the Flying Dutchman Volleyball Tournament Saturday afternoon at the LVC Gymnasium.

After finishing 1-1 on the first day of the tournament, Lebanon Valley (9-4) wrapped up pool play Saturday morning with a 3-0 (30-26, 30-25, 30-17) win over Penn State Altoona (4-4). The Valley closed out the tournament with a 3-2 (30-15, 30-26, 32-34, 26-30, 15-9) victory over Franklin & Marshall (5-2) in the third-place match. That match was also the 600th in the 20-year history of the LVC volleyball program.

Goodfellow entered the day needing 40 kills to tie LVC's career kills record of 1,299 held by Lexi Horstman '06. She connected for 16 kills against Penn State Altoona, then nailed 24 against F&M. For the tournament, she racked up 81 kills over four matches.

Haveford defeated Eastern 3-2 (30-22, 40-38, 32-34, 20-30, 15-13) in the tournament championship match.

Lebanon Valley fell behind in the early going in its first two games against Penn State Altoona, but rallied in each set. In Game 1, the Lions jumped out to a 7-1 lead and held a 12-6 advantage before LVC took control with a 12-3 run, which made it 18-15. The Valley led by at least three the rest of the game.

Altoona surged to a 12-4 lead to start the second game, and it led 17-10 before Lebanon Valley began to chip away. It was 23-21 in favor of the Lions before LVC took the lead for good after a 6-1 run, thanks in part to a pair of aces from junior Jess Kender.

The Valley never trailed in the final game after scoring the first three points. LVC led 10-5 before the Lions scored five unanswered to tie the game at 10. But that's when the Blue and White exploded for a 12-1 run, with Roth serving the final eight points and getting three aces along the way, as LVC opened up a 22-11 lead to put the game out of reach.

Prebula finished with 13 kills and hit .407 for Lebanon Valley against Altoona while Meyers had 12 kills in a .364 hitting performance. Yost handed out 46 assists while Goodfellow logged 17 digs. Zeiset totaled 16 digs while Roth notched four aces and 11 digs.
