Men’s Golf Posts Best Round of Spring at Charger Invitational

LEBANON, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's golf team posted its best round of the spring season on Tuesday afternoon as the Dutchmen recorded a score of 308 at Lebanon Country Club on the final day of the Charger Invitational.
 
LVC's "A" team had all five golfers card a score of 81 or better and had the second-best score in the field. Marymount University won the team title with a 304 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day score of 611. Lancaster Bible, the host school, finished second with a two-day score of 626 after carding a 312 in the second round. Penn State Harrisburg was third, three strokes back with a 629, after recording a score of 319 on Tuesday. The Dutchmen were fourth at 637. Penn State Berks carded a 326 to finish fifth with a score of 642. The LVC "B" team was eight strokes better than round one with a 347 to finish sixth at 702. Marymount's Santos Wangsupkitkosol and Lancaster Bible's Jon Breinich finished tied for first with identical scores of 147, with each posting a 73 on Tuesday.
 
Inside the Results
  • Bryaden Herr finished fourth in the field with a two-day score of 152. The sophomore carded a 73 this afternoon in one of the best rounds of his career. Herr was a one-over 37 on the front nine and even par with a 36 on the back nine to finish one-over. He had 11 pars and three birdies. Herr recorded birdies on the par-four eighth hole, and back-to-back birdies on the par-three 14th and the par-five 15th holes.
  • Brody Rafferty finished tied for 10th after recording a two-over 74 to end the tournament with a score of 158. The first-year was a two-over 38 on the front nine holes and was an even par 36 on the back nine. He had 13 pars and two birdies. Rafferty birdied the par-five 10th hole and the par-four 18th hole.
  • Reagan Flynn finished tied for 16th at 162 after another round of 81. He had a 40 on the front nine holes and a 41 on the back nine. Flynn carded eight pars and birdied the par-five seventh hole for the second consecutive day.
  • Brady Keath had an 81 to finish 19th with a score of 166. The first-year had a 40 on the front nine holes and a 41 on the back nine. Keath recorded 11 pars, including a big string of pars between the first and fourth holes on the front nine, and the 14th and 18th holes on the back nine.
  • Max Fisher carded an 80 to finish 24th at 168. He posted three birdies and six pars on the afternoon. Fisher had a birdie on the par-three third hole, the par-five seventh hole, and the par-three 14th hole. The first-year posted a 42 on the front nine and a two-over 38 on the back nine.
  • Deakon Schaeffer posted an 85 to lead the "B" team with a two-day score of 175. He finished tied for 28th with a strong round that included seven pars and one birdie. The sophomore birdied the par-three 14th hole. Schaeffer posted a 43 on the front nine and a 42 on the back nine.
  • Trenton Wagner had an 82 to finish 30th with a two-day score of 178. His round included a 41 on the front nine holes and a 41 on the back nine. Wagner posted eight pars and a birdie on the par-five seventh hole.
  • Lukas Bartek had a strong round with an 88 to finish 31st at 179. The senior just missed a hole-in-one on the ninth hole as he came within inches of the cup on the par-three and settled for one of three birdies on the round. He also posted birdies on the par-three third hole and on the par-four fifth hole. Bartek was a three-over 39 on the front nine and recorded a 49 on the back nine. He recorded three pars for the afternoon.
  • Reece McDonald had a two-day score of 180 after recording a 92 to finish 32nd. He had three pars and a birdie on the par-five 10th hole. McDonald posted a 48 on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine holes.
  • Grady Olson had a 96 to finish at 182 in 33rd. He struggled on the front nine with a 52 but came back strong on the back nine with a 44. Olson had four pars on the round.

The Dutchmen will close out the regular season with the Franklin & Marshall Invitational next Sunday and Monday. Tee times start at 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, at the Bent Creek Country Club in Lancaster.
