Men’s Golf Begins Play at DeSales Spring Classic

NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's golf team recorded a score of 337 on Friday afternoon during the first round of play at the DeSales Spring Classic on the course of Olde Homestead Golf Club in New Tripoli. The Dutchmen are in sixth place after the opening round.
 
LVC had the third-lowest score of the four Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom schools competing at the event. University of Scranton leads the field after the first day with a score of 308. The Albright College "B" team is second with a score of 311. Arcadia University is a stroke back with a 312, while host DeSales University is fourth with a score of 326. Muhlenberg College rounds out the top five with a score of 330. Arcadia's Frankie Sass is the individual lead after carding an even par 72. Albright's Filip Hjerten is a stroke back with a 73.
 
Inside the Results
  • Reagan Flynn is tied for 11th after the first round with an 80. The sophomore had a 42 on the front nine but finished strong with a two-over-par 38 on the back nine. Flynn had 10 pars, including seven consecutive from the 11th hole to the 17th hole, and birdied the par-four 18th hole.
  • Brayden Herr is tied for 18th with an 82. He birdied the par-five eighth hole and added nine pars, including four consecutive from the 14th hole to the 17th hole. Herr recorded a 42 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine.
  • Max Fisher is tied for 24th while playing as an individual and does not count towards the team score. The first-year had a team-best two birdies on the round, with a two on the par-three fourth hole and a three on the par-four 15th hole. Fisher carded a 45 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine with six pars.
  • Brody Rafferty had an 87 to sit in a tie for 27th. He struggled on the front nine with a 47 but came back strong on the back nine with a 40. Rafferty posted five pars and a birdie on the par-five 12th hole.
  • Brady Keath is tied for 32nd after recording an 88. The first-year found a groove in the middle of the round, recording pars on eight out of nine holes between the seventh and 15th holes. He recorded a 47 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine.
  • Grady Olson had a 96 in his first round of the spring. He recorded five pars on the afternoon with a 53 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine. Olson recorded four pars out of five holes between the 12th and 16th holes.

The second and final round of the Classic will tee off starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, back at the Olde Homestead Golf Club.
