McKell Breaks 600 Record at Scarlet Knight Open

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Elijah McKell broke the Lebanon Valley Indoor Track and Field 600-meter record to highlight a strong day for the Dutchmen at the Scarlet Knight Open on Friday at the New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory in New York City.
 
LVC sent a small group of student-athletes to compete in the Big Apple against mostly Division I competition in the non-scoring meet hosted by Rutgers University.
 
Leo Tirado ran a season-best and AARTFC qualifying time of 6.99 seconds in the 60 meters. His time moves him up two places in the school record books to third. Joshua Leidich ran a time of 8.96 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Caleb Auzenne ran a time of 23.15 seconds in the 200 meters. Elijah McKell ran a school record time of 1:22.60 in the 600 meters. He was three seconds faster than Alec Di Cesare's previous record time of 1:25.86 in 2023.
 
Sierra Kapcsos ran a season-best time of 2:23.90 in the 800 meters. Abigail Hunt ran a time of 3:12.68 in the 1000 meters. Her time is fifth in program history and the fastest in the MAC this season. Sam Rothstein ran a career-best time of 1:56.91 in the men's 800. His time moved him up to sixth in the school record books. Elijah McKell was right behind him in a season-best 1:57.11. Wyatt Leitzel ran a MAC qualifying time of 1:59.80. Lukas Walko ran 2:00.42 while Andrew Namatka finished in 2:09.50.
 
Rothstein ran the fastest mile time in the MAC this season with a career-best 4:18.04. His time qualifies him for the AARTFC Championships in the event and moves him up to fourth from sixth in the school record books. Leitzel ran a MAC qualifying time of 4:21.56. His career-best time is seventh on the program's Top 10 List. Walko ran a career-best time of 4:23.59 to qualify for the MAC Championships. Namatka ran a MAC qualifying time of 4:26.70 while Joe Chukoskie also ran a MAC qualifying time of 4:28.81.
 
Coyla Bartholomew ran a career-best and AARTFC qualifying time of 10:19.29 in the 3,000 meters. Her time is fourth in the school record books. Autumn Garges was right behind her in a career-best 10:21.15. Her time is fifth in program history. Abigail Hunt ran a season-best time of 11:01.41 while Kapcsos finished in a MAC qualifying 11:05.48. Joe Chukoskie finished third in the men's race with a career-best time of 8:36.91. He moved up to third in the school record books with his time. Charlee Kurtz qualified for the MAC and AARTFC Championships in the 5000 meters with a career-best time of 18:11.78. Her time is the fifth best in the conference this season and fourth in the school record books.
 
Anna Sawicki finished third in the high jump with a season-best and AARTFC qualifying height of 1.60 meters (5'3"). Tirado and Graison Michajluk both jumped 1.85 meters (6'0.75") in the men's event. Michajluk's height was a season-best for him. Tola Oyinkolade finished fifth in the long jump with a career-best mark of 5.38 meters (17'8") on her second jump. Her mark is the best in the MAC this season and is sixth in the program record books. Mileyska Calderon was eighth with a jump of 5.16 meters (16'11.25") on her third attempt. Hailey Myers had a mark of 4.91 meters (16'1.5") on her third attempt while Chloe Grady jumped 4.84 meters (15'10.5") on her third try.
 
Jordan Klinger finished second in the College section of the weight throw with a career-best throw of 15.53 meters (50'11.5") on his third toss. His mark is tied for the fifth best in the program record books. Aonghas Evanick finished seventh in the Championship section of the weight throw with a mark of 14.99 meters (49'2.25") on his second throw.
 
The Dutchmen will be back in action next Saturday, Feb. 14, as the team will head to Susquehanna University for the Valentine Invitational inside the Robert I. Estill Field House. The squad will also send student-athletes to compete at Widener's Indoor Classic at UPenn.
