ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey squad will begin its postseason journey on Saturday as the third-seeded Dutchmen head to the Hatfield Ice Arena in Colmar to take on second-seeded Arcadia University in the Middle Atlantic Conference Semifinals.
The Dutchmen enter the MAC Championship with a program-record 19 wins and are 19-6-0 overall, including going 16-5-0 in MAC play. They will take on Arcadia in the semifinals for the second consecutive season, while top-seeded Wilkes University will host fourth-seeded Alvernia University on Saturday in the other semifinal pairing. Both games are rematches of last year's Championship Semifinal round. The Colonels and Golden Wolves are scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. puck drop in Wilkes-Barre, while LVC and Arcadia will get underway at 5:45 p.m. in Colmar. Arcadia is 17-62 overall and 15-5-1 in conference play. The Dutchmen and Knights finished the year with 46 points each, but the Knights earned home-ice advantage by winning the season series. LVC won the first matchup between the teams 4-3 at Hersheypark Arena in December. The Knights won 3-2 in overtime the next day and then used a strong first period to defeat the Dutchmen 6-3 a few weeks ago in Colmar.
Wilkes, the defending champion, enters the tournament with 22-1-1 record and 20-1-0 mark in MAC play. LVC is the only team to defeat the Colonels this year, as
Anna Dale scored in overtime to give the Dutchmen a thrilling 4-3 victory at the Toyota Sportsplex in Wilkes-Barre back in November. All three games between the teams have been close, with Wilkes winning 4-2 and 2-1 in the other two matchups. The Dutchmen swept the Golden Wolves by a combined score of 10-1 this year, including a 3-0 Senior Night victory last Friday. The winners of Saturday's semifinal games will meet for the Championship the following Saturday, March 7, at the site of the higher remaining seed.
There is an admission cost for all conference tournament games. Prices are set by the conference office and are $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors (65+), and youth (7-17). MAC students with an ID and children six and under with an adult are free.
