NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's and women's basketball teams garnered recognition from the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) on Tuesday, Jan. 27, as the conference office announced in a release that a student-athlete from each program was presented with a weekly award.
First-year guard
Giovanni Sejuste was named the MAC Freedom Player of the Week after playing an integral role in the past two victories for Dutchmen Men's Basketball. Senior forward
Brielle Reidinger was also honored, as she was selected as the MAC Freedom Player of the Week for her contributions to a pair of recent wins for LVC's women's basketball team.
Sejuste led the Dutchmen to two thrilling home conference wins this week, scoring 48 points and grabbing 18 rebounds while shooting 66.7 percent from the field. The guard started the week with his second double-double of the year, with 25 points and 10 rebounds to propel LVC to an 83-69 victory over FDU-Florham on Wednesday, Jan. 21. The Dutchmen overcame a 20-point first-half deficit and outscored the Devils 57-30 in the second half. Sejuste scored 19 of his 25 points in the second half to power the comeback. The 57 points were the most in a half for the Dutchmen this season. The first-year finished the week with 23 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in an exciting 79-76 overtime victory over Delaware Valley University on Saturday, Jan. 24. He gave the Dutchmen the lead for good in overtime as he hit a turnaround jumper with 1:23 left to put LVC ahead 75-74. The guard finished the game with the ball in his hands after grabbing a defensive rebound on a three-point attempt by the Aggies. Sejuste has scored over 20 points in each of the past four games, is second in scoring during conference play with 21.7 points per game, and has a conference-leading .582 field goal percentage. Sejuste's first career conference weekly award marks the first honor the Flying Dutchmen have earned this season. He is the first member of Lebanon Valley's men's basketball team to be chosen as the MAC Freedom Player of the Week since guard and forward
Ryan Harder on Feb. 3, 2025.
Reidinger averaged a double-double for the week with 12 points and 10.5 points per game in a pair of wins for the Dutchmen, including scoring the game-winning bucket against Delaware Valley on Saturday. The senior started the week with 11 points and 12 rebounds in a 64-48 victory at FDU-Florham on Wednesday. Reidinger had nine points and seven rebounds in the second half as the Dutchmen outscored the host Devils 39-27 in the second half. The forward then had a big hand in winning the battle with the Aggies, recording 13 points, nine rebounds, four blocks, a season-high four steals, and three assists. The senior came up with a big steal in the final 10 seconds with the game tied and was fouled with 6.1 seconds left. She made the second of two free throw attempts to give the Dutchmen a 54-53 victory. Reidinger's first MAC Freedom Player of the Week award of the campaign marks the third weekly honor she has received from the conference in her career. Lebanon Valley's women's basketball team has now been presented with five weekly awards from the MAC Freedom this season.
