ITHACA, N.Y. – Ayden Stankus finished fifth in the pole vault and the men's distance medley relay team finished sixth to highlight the first day of action at the AARTFC Championships for the Lebanon Valley Indoor Track and Field teams on Friday at the Glazer Arena on the campus of Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.
Stankus cleared 4.61 meters (15'1.5") in the pole vault to finish fifth and score four points in the field of 21. The men's distance medley team of
Sam Rothstein,
Matt Bruchak,
Alec Di Cesare, and
Eric Shelton finished sixth out of 17 to score three points with a time of 10:27.69. Their time is tied for ninth in the program record books.
Colin Winters qualified for Saturday's final in the 60 meters with a time of 6.96 seconds. He was second in the first of four heats and had the seventh-fastest time in the field.
Daniel Murtha finished 19th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.44 seconds. Murtha was fourth in the second of five heats.
Rachel Snavely was the only member of the women's team to compete on Friday and she fouled on all three of her pole vault attempts at 3.17 meters (10'4.75").
The men are tied for 12th in the team standings with seven points through six of 18 events.
The Dutchmen will wrap up the Championships tomorrow with action starting at 10 a.m. at the Glazer Arena.
