Swimming Performs Great on Third Day of MAC Championships

YORK, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley swimming team had eight individual qualifiers for the finals on Saturday during the third day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center in York.

Jordyn Grossman led the team as she qualified for the "B" Final in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.65 in the trails. She then finished 14th overall and sixth in her heat with a time of 1:03.39 in the Final. Sierra Young was a "C" Final qualifier in the event with a time of 1:07.14 during the trials. The senior swam faster in the finals with a time of 1:06.338 to finish 22nd overall and sixth in the heat.

The men's team had two "C" Finals qualifiers in the 100-backstroke as well in Biran Dym and Joe Beidler. Dym swam 1:00.15 in the morning and then touched the wall in 59.98 seconds at night to finish second in the heat and 18th overall. Beidler swam 1:07.31 in the trials and then finished seventh in the finals with a time of 1:05.82 to finish 23rd overall.

Marina Weidman, Lilly McNutt, and Rachel King reached the "C" Final in the 100-yard breaststroke. Weidman swam a time of 1:14.96 in trials and then swam a little faster in the finals with a time of 1:14.70 to touch the wall third in the heat and 19th overall. McNutt finished in 1:16.11 during the morning session and then was sixth in the heat at night with a time of 1:16.39 to finish 22nd. King swam a time of 1:17.42 in the trials before touching the wall eighth in the finals heat with a time of 1:18.07 to finish 24th. Noryan Mitchell had a time of 1:18.56 to finish 27th while Karly Kile swam 1:21.44 to touch the wall in 29th.

Josh Varner swam a time of 1:05.43 in the 100-breaststorke to qualify for the men's "C" Final. He then lowered that time by touching the wall in 1:04.82 to finish seventh in the finals heat and 23rd overall. Zack Fischer had a time of 1:14.59 to finish 30th while Tyler Singer was 31st in 1:15.66. The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Jacob Herald, Eddie McClain, Caleb Sikalis, and Mitchell Delano finished 10th with a time of 9:18.24.

The final day of the Championships will get underway at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday with the 100-freestyle, 200-backstroke, 200-breaststroke, and 1650-freestyle.
