DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's cross country team made history on Saturday as the Dutchmen won the program's first-ever Middle Atlantic Conference Championship at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown.

The Dutchmen placed their first five finishers in the top 14, edging Misericordia University by three points for the team title. LVC scored 52 points, putting all five of its scorers in front of Misericordia's third finisher. The Cougars had the Individual Champion in first-year Madison Hedglin, who covered the 6,000-meter course in 22:26.8. They scored 55 points while Messiah University was third with 87 points. Stevens Institute of Technology finished fourth at 154 points, and York College of Pennsylvania rounded out the top five with 165 points. LVC had seven All-MAC honors at the meet, with three on the first team, two on the second, and two on the third.
James O'Brien '07, M'16 was named the MAC Coach of the Year.

"Winning this race with our ladies was such a surreal experience," stated O'Brien. "The image that keeps replaying in my mind of our pack of ladies all barreling down the finishing stretch together is something that I'll never forget. Truly special to witness. They fought tooth and nail the entire way on a challenging course, and it was amazing to witness their tenacity all the way through the line. Misericordia gave us everything that we could handle and more, and we have tremendous respect for their program. I'm incredibly proud of our senior contingency of Autumn, Coyla, Abby, Sierra & Dani, who have had this expectation in mind throughout their careers. We've finished second and third so many times over the years at this meet; it's fantastic to accomplish what we set out to do. Everyone gave us their best effort today, we had fun doing it, and they believed in each other all season long."
