Cross Country
The cross country squads had a strong performance at the Paul Short Run last week to improve their positions in the regional and national rankings. The men finished sixth in a field of 45 teams that included 11 other nationally ranked squads while the women were 17th in a very competitive field of 45 teams. The men's team moved up to 21st in the national rankings after being 30th. They stayed third in the Mid-Atlantic Region rankings. The women used their strong performance to move up one spot to third in the regional rankings ahead of conference foe, Misericordia University. The Cougars did not race this past week. LVC beat all the Metro Region teams that were also racing at Lehigh and finished second of Mid-Atlantic teams in the White Race. The men's squad is also ranked in the midseason D3 Glory Days rankings and the FloTrack Rankings. D3 Glory Days has the Dutchmen 21st while FloTrack has the team 24th.
Field Hockey (6-4)
The Dutchmen defeated Juniata 7-0 in the only game they played last week. They are ranked 58th in the nation in the first NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings of the season and seventh in Region IV. They will have a huge opportunity to move up this weekend as they host nationally ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in the conference opener at Arnold Field on Saturday. The Ducks are ranked fifth in NPI and ninth in the Coaches Poll. After recording another shutout last week, the Dutchmen moved up one spot to seventh in save percentage at 0.871, and up nine spots to 10th in shutouts per game with 0.50. They also moved up five spots in goals against average to 11th at 0.72. LVC leads the MAC Freedom in all three categories.
Ella Weidenhammer continues to be highly ranked in two categories as she is seventh in save percentage at 0.871 and 10th in goals against average at 0.76. She was ninth in save percentage and 20th in goals against average last week. Amelia Taube is tied for first in the conference and 43rd in Division III with three defensive saves.
Football (3-1)
The Dutchmen had a bye last week and will return to action on Saturday with a big Homecoming matchup against Misericordia on Arnold Field. The defense moved down to fourth in Division III with three defensive touchdowns and 20th in interceptions with seven. On the opposite side of the ball, LVC is seventh in passes intercepted with one. Misericordia enters Saturday's game tied with the Dutchmen in the conference with seven interceptions on the season. LVC's turnover margin of 1.50 is up to 16th from 25th last week, while their two turnovers lost is up to fifth from 15th. The red zone defense is now ranked 27th at 63.6 percent after being 37th last week. LVC is 33rd in blocked kicks with three, down nine spots from last week, and are 30th in fourth down conversion percentage at 69.2, up six spots from last week. The special teams unit is 20th in blocked punts with one.
Carter Foust leads the nation in interceptions per game with 1.00 and 147 return yards. Cameron Hirshman is one of 30 players in the nation to return a punt for a touchdown. Dion Bryant is still ranked high in a couple rushing categories. He is down to 42nd in total rushing yards at 435, but he is up five spots to 29th in rushing yards per game at 108.8.
Men's Soccer (6-1-4)
The Dutchmen had another two road games last week and earned a pair of ties to increase their unbeaten streak to nine. The squad is 78th in the first NPI rankings of the year and fifth in Region IV behind four teams from the NJAC. The Dutchmen are also ranked fifth in the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings. LVC can make a big statement this week as they take on ninth-ranked Dickinson who is also 20th in the NPI rankings. They will then face Delaware Valley on Homecoming Saturday.
Nathan Prex has continued his excellent senior season with two goals and an assist last week. He has scored in each of the last nine games. The forward is up to eighth in Division III with 1.00 goals per game and fifth in points per game with 2.45. He was 10th in goals per game and eighth in points last week. His three game-winning goals are down eight spots to 17th. Prex is sixth in total points with 27, ninth in total goals with 11, and 40th in total assists with five. He was 12th in goal and 11th in points last week. His 5.09 shots per game is up to fifth from 11th, while his 2.64 shots on goal per game are up one spot to third. The senior is ranked fourth among active Division III student-athletes with 103 career points and is tied for fifth in goals at 41 in 63 games.
Women's Soccer (7-1-2)
LVC earned a huge point with a 2-2 tie at Arcadia in the conference opener on Saturday. They became the first team to score multiple goals on Arcadia's defense all year. They moved into the United Soccer Coaches Region IV rankings at eighth after an impressive first 10 games. The Dutchmen are 64th in the first NPI rankings and are fifth in the region. This week, the Dutchmen have a pair of home games starting on Wednesday with Hood College. They will then host Delaware Valley University on Homecoming Saturday.
The squad is ranked 17th in shutout percentage at .700, down from 10th last week. The team has recorded seven clean sheets and lead the MAC Freedom with 6.30 corner kicks per game and 6.00 points per game. Jordan Lasky is 27th with three game-winning goals, down 10 spots from last week. Camryn Porter is tied for third in the nation with seven shutouts.
