HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Ice Hockey program has signed Jameson "Jamie" Reynolds, a 13-year-old from Jonestown to join the program through Team IMPACT. The signing occurred on Thursday afternoon, September 19, in the team's locker room at Hersheypark Arena.
Reynolds is in the 7th grade at Northern Lebanon Middle School. At 8, he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Due to Jamie's condition, playing sports and being part of a sports team was something that he could never do. Thankfully, being involved with
Team IMPACT and the LVC ice hockey team, Jamie can now be part of a sports team that otherwise, he may never have gotten the chance to do. Team IMPACT is a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. The program aims to guide children and teams alike in a mutually beneficial relationship of belonging, empowerment, and resilience. The program creates a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved.
The Dutchmen's ice hockey squad, led by Head Coach
Don Parsons, has welcomed Jamie at practices at the end of last year, and Jamie will participate in several team activities during their next two seasons.
"Participating in a program like Team IMPACT greatly benefits the child, and equally benefits our players as individuals," said Parsons. "They develop skills that will help them throughout life, and Jamie has been a tremendous inspiration."
