ANNVILLE, Pa. – Brad McAlester, Lebanon Valley College's Head Men's Basketball Coach, announced that Brad Karli was promoted to the top Assistant Coach after seven years as a member of the coaching staff.
Karli has been on the Lebanon Valley staff since the 2017-18 season. In his first season with the Dutchmen, LVC won the conference championship with an 81-79 victory over rival Albright College in the MAC Commonwealth Championship game.
Over the past seven seasons, the Dutchmen have had 10 All-Conference honorees, while Collin Jones was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, and Justin Baker was named the MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year in 2020-21. Jones, Andy Orr, and Sam Light also earned All-Region honors from the NABC and D3hoops.com during Karli's tenure at The Valley. In 2017-18, Light earned D-III News All-America Honorable Mention honors, while Orr picked up CoSIDA Academic All-America Third-Team recognition.
Karli graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1998, where he played baseball and basketball for the Blue Jays. He was a three-year starter at point guard and four-year letterwinner on a team that made three consecutive postseason appearances. He led the team in assists and steals as a senior. He was a three-year letterwinner and starting outfielder in baseball. He earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors and team MVP honors his senior year after the Blue Jays won the MAC title during his junior season in 1997.
After graduating, Karli became an assistant coach with the Blue Jays and helped the team compile a record of 181-117 over 11 seasons. The team made the conference playoffs nine of 11 years, winning three conference titles and advancing to three NCAA Division III Championship Tournaments. The 2001-02 team posted a record of 29-3, reached the national title game, and was inducted into Elizabethtown's Sports Hall of Fame. Karli then spent six years as an assistant coach at Division II Bloomsburg University. During his time in Bloomsburg, the Huskies qualified for three consecutive PSAC Tournaments.
