CHESTER, Pa. – Coyla Bartholomew lowered her school record in the 3000 steeplechase to highlight a great day by a group of Lebanon Valley track and field student-athletes that competed at the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday at Widener University in Chester.
Bartholomew ran a career best time of 11:05.35 in the steeplechase to finish fifth out of 15. She lowered her previous program record by eight seconds.
Zach Reed was just shy of his career best time in the 400 hurdles as he finished third out of 15 hurdlers in 53.60 seconds.
Elijah McKell had a fast time of 1:54.82 in the men's 800 meters while
Sam Rothstein ran a career best 1:56.35 and
Alec Di Cesare was right behind him in 1:56.67. Rothstein's time moves him into the program record books at sixth.
Lauren Bunke finished 12th out of 37 runners in the women's 800 with a career best time of 2:15.08. Her time is second on the top 10 list in the program record book.
Sierra Kapcsos wasn't far behind her as she crossed the line in a career best 2:19.70. Kapcsos' time is ninth in the record book.
Autumn Garges ran a career best 1500-meter time of 4:43.69 to finish 11th in a field of 31. Her time is fifth on the program's top 10 list.
Matthew Santana had a time of 14:57.09 in the 5000 meters to finish ninth in the second of four heats.
Joe Chukoskie ran 15:12.14 also running in the second heat.
Vinny Ferrizzi finished second in the fourth heat with a huge career best time of 15:30.10.
Nick Guerieri finished third out of 16 throwers in the javelin with a toss of 57.20 meters (187'8") on his fourth attempt.
The Dutchmen will be back in action on Wednesday on day one of the AARTFC Championships that are being held at SUNY Cortland in upstate New York.
