Reed Wins Both Hurdle Events at York Twilight Meet

YORK, Pa. – Zach Reed won gold in the 110 high hurdles and the 400 hurdles to highlight a strong meet for the Lebanon Valley men's outdoor track and field team on a rainy Wednesday at the York Twilight Meet.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND NEW QUALIFIERS
Reed started off his day with a time of 15.32 seconds in the 110 hurdles to finish first and qualify for the MAC and AARTFC Championships. He then came back and ran a career-best time of 54.19 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles for his second win of the afternoon and qualify for both Championships at the end of the year. Daniel Murtha was also a MAC qualifier in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.11 seconds to finish third. In the 400 hurdles, Kadan Smith finished fourth and qualified for MACs with a time of 57.57 seconds.
 
Vinny Ferrizzi was a MAC qualifier in the 800 meters as he ran 1:57.28 to finish fifth. Two Dutchmen finished on the podium in the 1500 meters as Elijah McKell ran a MAC qualifying time of 4:07.60 to finish seventh and Alec Di Cesare was eighth with a time of 4:13.53. Lukas Walko, Donnie Miller, and Ryan O'Byrne ran strong races in the 5000 meters to qualify for the MAC Championships. Walko crossed the line in 15:44.02, Miller was right on his heels in 15:45.03, and O'Byrne had a time of 16:01.50. The 4x100 meter relay team of Donovan Goundie, Alex Sabo, Owen Linder, and Colin Winters finished third in 43.72 seconds just missing the AARTFC qualifying time. In the final event of the night, the 4x400 meters, LVC had two teams finish in the top five. The squad of Linder, Goundie, Sabo, and McKell was third with a time of 3:26.45 while the team of Matt Bruchak, Smith, Graison Michajluk, and Di Cesare was fourth in the 3:29.54.
 
Ayden Stankus waited out the rain to finish second in the pole vault under the lights with a MAC qualifying height of 4.10 meters (13'5.25"). Josh Ott finished fourth in the triple jump with a MAC qualifying mark of 12.64 meters (41'5.75") on his first attempt. Aonghas Evanick and Cody Shay were new MAC qualifiers in the shot put. Evanick threw 12.69 meters (41'7.75") on his second of three throws while Shay had a career-best mark of 12.63 meters (41'5.25") on his second attempt.
 
Ian Paul won the javelin with a MAC and AARTFC qualifying mark of 56.17 meters (184'3") on his sixth and final throw. Michael De Falcis also qualified for both Championships and finished second with a heave of 54.17 meters (177'9") on his fifth attempt. Nick Guerieri finished sixth with a throw of 47.52 meters (155'11") to qualify for MACs.

Reed's career best time of 54.19 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles moved him up from seventh to fourth in the program's record book.

A crew of distance runners will compete at Widener University's Danny Curran Invitational on Friday evening. The rest of the squad will be back in action next weekend on April 6 at the Millersville Metrics.
