Outdoor Track and Field Record 28 MAC Qualifiers in Season Opener

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley outdoor track and field team posted 28 MAC Championship qualifiers on a rainy Saturday morning in Annville as the team opened the outdoor season with a Mini Meet.
 
The meet consisted of four events on the track, four throwing events, and three jumping events that were held inside because of the rain. The Dutchmen competed against student-athletes from Lancaster Bible College.
 
In the 200 meters, Darrian Berkheimer qualified for the conference championships with a time of 27.16 seconds. In the men's race, Zach Reed had a time of 22.54 seconds and Owen Linder ran 22.77 seconds to qualify.
 
The Dutchmen had all five of their competitors in the long jump qualify. Ayden Stankus had a jump of 6.10 meters (20'0.25") on his second of four attempts. Josh Otto recorded a mark of 6.09 meters (19'11.75") on his third jump. Alex Sabo had a mark of 5.98 meters (19'7.5") on his fourth try. Mileyska Calderon jumped 5.26 meters (17'3.25") on her third attempt and Chloe Grady had a mark of 4.92 meters (16'1.75") on her fourth try.
 
Graison Michajluk qualified in the high jump with a height of 1.78 meters (5'10"). The women's team had four qualifiers in the event as Emily Oriel cleared 1.56 meters (5'1.25") to lead the group. Carolina Wegman and Melena Koutch jumped 1.51 meters (4'11.5") while Haley Thunberg cleared 1.41 meters (4'7.5").
 
Alyssa Betz and Caroline Reed qualified in the discus. Betz threw 32.16 meters (105'6") on her fourth attempt while Reed had a mark of 29.29 meters (96'1") on her fourth throw. Ian Paul and Luke Tobin qualified in the shot put as did Lauren Assante, Reed, Greta Plechner, and Betz. Paul had a throw of 12.21 meters (40'0.75") on his second toss while Tobin recorded a mark of 11.90 meters (39'0.5") on his first throw. Assante threw 10.38 meters (34'0.75") on her first toss while Reed had a mark of 10.03 meters (32'11") on her second. Plechner had a mark of 9.99 meters (32'9.5") on her first throw and Betz recorded a mark of 9.91 meters (32'6.25") on her fourth.
 
The Dutchmen had six qualifiers in the hammer with Trey Reynolds, Cody Shay, Aonghas Evanick, Assante, Reed, and Meghan Bussey all hitting the mark needed. Reynolds had a throw of 47.06 meters (154'5") on his second toss. Shay recorded a mark of 41.69 meters (136'9") on his third attempt. Evanick had a toss of 40.24 meters (132'0") on his fourth throw. Assante led the women with a toss of 37.63 meters (123'5") on her fourth attempt. Reed threw 34.02 meters (111'7") on her third try. Bussey recorded a mark of 32.52 meters (106'8") on her third throw. Kaitlyn Snyder was a MAC qualifier in the javelin with a throw of 32.33 meters (106'1") on her first of two tries.
 
LVC had seven total changes to the record books at the meet including five in the sprint medley relay. The men's team of Linder, Donovan Goundie, Reed, and Elijah McKell had a time of 3:41.79 which is third in program history. The team of Otto, Brandon Maniscalco, Alec Di Cesare, and Ryan O'Byrne ran a time of 3:47.04 which is sixth. Nicholas Resele, Kadan Smith, Matt Bruchak, and Sam Rothstein finished right behind them in 3:47.09 which is seventh. The women's team had two teams move into the record book. Alyssa Peiffer, Calderon, Berkheimer, and Autumn Garges ran a time of 4:27.82 which is third while Mikayla Mitchell, Karina Reilly, Abbie Reed, and Sierra Kapcsos ran 4:35.96 which is fifth. Calderon's long jump mark of 5.26 meters is sixth while Oriel's high jump height of 1.56 meters is 10th.
 
LVC will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to York College of Pennsylvania for the York Twilight Meet.
