NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's basketball team received recognition on Tuesday, as the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) office announced that three of the program's players were named to the 2023-24 All-MAC Freedom Women's Basketball Team. Senior guard Kate Fitzpatrick was selected to the First Team, sophomore guard Riley Hevelow was chosen to the Second Team, and junior guard Cristina Fernandez was listed as an Honorable Mention.
Fitzpatrick was presented with All-Conference honors for the third time in her career after being named to the All-MAC Commonwealth First Team as a junior and to the Second Team in the 2021-22 season. This winter, the guard's impressive campaign was highlighted by leading the team and ranking second in the MAC Freedom with 464 points, averaging 17.8 per game. Fitzpatrick also knocked down 66 threes for an average of 2.5 per game, ranking second in the conference. Additionally, the senior went 70-for-82 on free throws and led the MAC Freedom with a percentage of .854. Defensively, her 12 blocks were the second-most on the squad as well. Fitzpatrick posted a season-high 30 points during Lebanon Valley's 66-57 victory over Delaware Valley University on Jan. 6. The guard also reached the 1,000-career points mark in a 20-point effort during the 55-41 win against King's College on Jan. 24.
Hevelow was selected to an All-Conference team for the second time in her career, after being chosen as an All-MAC Commonwealth Team Honorable Mention and Rookie of the Year for her debut season in 2022-23. The sophomore was a key contributor for the Flying Dutchmen this winter, ranking second on the squad with 289 points, an average of 11.1 points per game, and 28 three-pointers. Hevelow made 123 field goals during the campaign and ranked seventh in the MAC Freedom with a field goal percentage of .441. The guard also tallied the third-most total rebounds on the team with 120 and the third-highest steals total with 23. Hevelow scored a season-high 26 points while registering six total rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal against Albright on Dec. 2, 2023.
Fernandez earned All-Conference recognition for the first time in her career. The guard was on the MAC Freedom leaderboard for several statistical categories, ranking third with 44 blocks, fourth with 82 assists, and eighth with a field goal percentage of .424. Fernandez also led the Dutchmen in blocks and assists while posting the second-most total rebounds on the team with 150. The junior ranked third on the team with 223 points and 11 three-pointers as well. Fernandez scored a season-high 18 points and recorded seven rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and an assist during Lebanon Valley's 55-54 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham on Jan. 17.
