Men’s Indoor Track and Field has Strong Performance at River Hawk Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's indoor track and field team won three events and had 15 top three finishes on Saturday at the River Hawk Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND NEW QUALIFIERS
Cody Shay won the weight throw, Elijah McKell won the 800 meters, and Sam Rothstein won the mile to highlight the outstanding performance by the Dutchmen in the third meet of the year.
 
Owen Linder finished second in the 200 meters with a season best time of 23.25 seconds. Zach Reed had hit first of two top three finishes in the 400 meters with a MAC-qualifying time of 52.13 seconds to finish third. Reed then finished second in the 60 hurdles with a season-best time of 8.43 seconds in the final after running 8.44 seconds in the preliminaries. Daniel Murtha qualified for the MAC Championships in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.84 seconds in the prelims.
 
McKell won the 800 in a season best and MAC qualifying 2:03.42 while Ryan O'Byrne was third in a season best 2:05.96. McKell also ran a career best mile time of 4:36.64 to finish third. His time also qualified him for the MAC Championships. Rothstein won the mile for the second consecutive week and earned his third event victory of the year with a season best time of 4:33.47. Vinny Ferrizzi was second in the 3000 meters with a career best and MAC qualifying time of 9:05.08 while Matthew Santana was third in a career best 9:12.19. Dylan Lenhart qualified for the conference championships in the 3000 with a time of 9:13.58.
 
Ayden Stankus was second in the pole vault with a height of 4.15 meters (13'7.25"). The junior passed on all the heights until they got to 4.15 meters and cleared his first attempt. Ben Wolfe finished second in the long jump and the triple jump. In the long jump the junior had a MAC qualifying mark of 6.48 meters (21'3.25") on his sixth and final jump. In the triple jump, he recorded a mark of 13.00 meters (42'8") on his second attempt.
 
Trey Reynolds continued his strong start to the season with a season best throw of 13.47 meters (44'2.5") on his second toss in the shot put to finish second. He also finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 14.38 meters (47'2.25") on his fourth try. Shay won the weight throw with a career best toss of 14.92 meters (48'11.5") on his sixth and final throw.
 
RECORD BOOK PERFORMANCES
Shay's career best toss in the weight throw moved him up from sixth to fifth on the Top 10 List in program history.

LVC will head south to Franklin & Marshall College next Saturday for the Mini-Dip Invitational.
