ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team will look to continue their conference winning streak this week and win their second consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Championship.
The Dutchmen enter the postseason with a 14-3 overall record and 7-0 mark in conference matches. They will host fourth-seeded Messiah University at 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at the Shankroff Tennis Center. Second-seeded York College of Pennsylvania will host third-seeded Alvernia University in the other semifinal. The winners will play Saturday in the Championship at the site of the higher seed.
LVC played York, Alvernia, and Messiah in a six-day stretch from April 8 to 14. The Dutchmen started with a close 5-4 victory at York where five of the six singles matches went three sets. LVC then earned a pair of 8-1 victories over Alvernia and Messiah at the Shankroff Tennis Center. The Dutchmen are 36-5 in singles matches during conference play this year and 17-4 in doubles.
Nicole Honrade went 5-2 at number one singles during conference play with her only losses coming to Albright's Alex Pancu and a very close three-setter to York's Elsa Oestermarker.
Sarah Kramer has been dominant at number two with a 6-0 conference record and has won her last eight matches overall.
Livia Jackson has been a strong number three for the Dutchmen with a 4-1 mark in conference play. Her only loss came against Alvernia when she was forced to retire after an injury during the match.
Meredith Haas went a perfect 7-0 in conference with three wins coming at number three and four wins coming at number four. She is on a nine-match winning streak and will play at number four this week where she went 3-0 against York, Alvernia, and Messiah.
Eliana Shenk went 4-1 during conference play including a 2-1 record at number five against the three possible opponents this week. Her only loss was a marathon three-set tiebreaker at York. At number six is
Madison Poladian who recorded a 4-1 mark in conference play this spring. Her only loss was also in a tight three-setter at York.
The doubles team of Honrade and Kramer went 6-1 at number one in conference play. Their only loss was to Albright and are on a five match winning streak since then. The Dutchmen have used multiple combinations at second and third doubles this season as Haas has gone 4-2 at number two playing two matches with Poladian, one match with Shenk, and three matches with Jackson. Haas and Jackson are 1-2 having lost to York and Messiah. Poladian and Shenk are 3-0 together at number three doubles with wins over York and Messiah.
