EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-0 decision at 37th-ranked and top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship match on Saturday afternoon at the Edgewater Tennis Center in Edgewater, New Jersey.
The Dutchmen (15-5) lost to the Ducks (16-2) in the conference title match for the second consecutive season. Stevens won the double point by taking a pair of close 6-3 decisions at number two and number three. They then won matches at numbers three, five, and six singles to clinch the match victory.
Inside the Box
- Sarah McComas and Nikki Denbowski battled to a 6-3 defeat at number two doubles to finish the year 5-4.
- Katie Berra and Megan Martin also dropped a 6-3 decision at number three doubles to finish the year 8-4 as playing partners.
- Erika Badner and Catherine Stone had a 5-4 lead in their match at number one doubles when the doubles point was clinched.
- Martin fell by a score of 6-1, 6-0 at number three singles to finish the year at 8-5 in dual matches.
- Berra dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision at number five singles to finish her sophomore year 12-3 in duals.
- Laken Kelly fell 6-0, 6-0 at number six singles to finish the year 11-4.
- McComas was in a battle at number one singles as she dropped the first set 6-4 and was down 2-0 in the second set.
- Stone was down 6-1, 3-1 at number two singles when the match was clinched.
- Badner dropped her first set 6-1 at number four singles and was tied 2-2 in the second set.
