Women’s Ice Hockey Ready to Continue Record-Setting Year in UCHC Tournament

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team is set to take on 12th-ranked Utica University on Wednesday afternoon in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) quarterfinals.
 
The Dutchmen qualified for the UCHC Tournament for the second consecutive season and enter as the seventh seed after winning a program record 12 games this year including recording a 9-10-1 record in UCHC play. LVC finished the regular season on a four-game winning streak defeating Arcadia University and Wilkes University the past two weekends. The Pioneers are seeded second after falling to Nazareth College this weekend in a pair of overtime games and enter with a 20-2-3 overall record and 17-1-2 mark in conference play. Utica is 11-0-2 this season playing at home including eight wins and one tie in the brand-new Nexus Center. Utica swept the season series from the Dutchmen a few weeks ago winning by scores of 4-2 and 7-1 on their home ice.
 
The other three quarterfinal games will be eighth-seeded Stevenson University at top-seeded Nazareth, sixth-seeded Arcadia University at third-seeded Manhattanville College, and fifth-seeded Chatham University at fourth-seeded Alvernia Univeristy. The winners of the four quarterfinal games will advance to Saturday's semifinals with the highest remaining seed hosting the lowest remaining seed and the second highest seed hosting the second lowest seed. The semifinal winners will meet in the Championship on March 4 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
 
The Dutchmen have set season records in nearly every offensive category with 132 points on 58 goals and 74 assists. The team has scored 19 power play goals and two short-handed goals and recorded six shutouts. Katrina Strauts has led the offensive outburst with a program record 23 points on 12 goals and 11 assists. Six of her goals were power play goals and she has scored two game-winners. Ioanna Christou powers the defense with 12 points on six goals and six assists while leading the team with 36 blocked shots. Erin Yorke is second on the team with 10 assists and has scored a goal for 11 points.
 
Katie Pounder and Cheyenne Wilk have recorded nine points each for the offense. Two of Pounder's three goals have been game-winners and she recorded six assists. Wilk is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals with three and has five total goals and four assists. Jade Julius and Tiffany Anderson have both recorded three goals and five assists for eight points while Alexa Spiers has six goals, including three game-winners, and two assists. Victoria Scurto has four goals and four assists while Mallory Burdick recorded five goals and three assists.
 
Brenna Mulcahy has recorded seven points on two goals and five assists while Alexis Oukes has five points on one goal and four assists. Grace Mayer, Irina Brady, and Jess Dawe all have four points on the season. Brady has scored three goals while Dawe has two and Mayer has one. Hannah Annunziata adds a goal and an assist while Sloane Herrera and Tate Murphy have an assist each.
 
The Dutchmen have received great goaltending all year from Shelby Guinard and Olivia Magneson. Guinard has started 14 games and recorded a 5-9-0 record with a 2.71 goals-against average with two shutouts. Magneson has four shutouts on the season and is 7-3-1 in 11 games with a 2.08 goals-against average.
