ANNVILLE, Pa. – A big week in Daytona Beach earned Lebanon Valley men's basketball senior
Collin Jones Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) Player of the Week honors on Tuesday in a release by the conference office.
Jones had two great games against a pair of high-quality opponents from the Ohio Athletic Conference at the Florida Sunshine Shootout in Daytona Beach. The senior averaged 24 points and 11.5 rebounds in two hard-fought defeats. He started the week with game-highs of 23 points and nine rebounds in a tough 78-62 defeat to fourth-ranked Mount Union. Jones was a force down low getting to the line 10 times and making nine free throws. The forward then finished the week with game-highs of 25 points and 14 rebounds in a tight 71-67 defeat to Marietta College. Jones led a second half comeback in which the Dutchmen rallied from a 14-point deficit with 7:19 left to within two points holding the Pioneers scoreless until a pair of free throws with nine seconds left clinched the victory.
The weekly award is the second for Jones this season and the sixth of his career.
The Dutchmen return to conference play this week starting with a road game at Stevenson University on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
