MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College track and field teams had another excellent meet facing strong competition on Saturday as the men's squad finished third and was the top Division III team at the Millersville Metrics. The women finished ninth and were the second Division III team.
Both teams added to their already impressive number of Middle Atlantic Conference qualifiers in the second outdoor meet of the season. The men scored 71.5 points to finish behind Division II's East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg. McDaniel was fourth with 59.5 points. The top five teams on the women's side were all members of the PSAC with host Millersville topping the field with 172.5 points. LVC scored 33 points and was second among Division III teams to Elizabethtown who finished sixth with 46 points.
EVENT WINNERS
Owen Buhr made his outdoor debut and won the 400 meters in a MAC and AARTFC qualifying time of 49.88 seconds. The senior also finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 22.17 seconds. His time also qualified him for the MAC Championships and AARTFC in that event as well and leads the conference in both events.
Noah Griffin won the 3000 steeplechase with a MAC and ARRTFC qualifying time of 9:51.31.
OTHER TOP FINISHERS
Vinny Ferrizzi finished sixth in the 1500 meters with a season-best time of 4:06.64.
Tanner Haynes and
Joseph Pleban qualified for MACs with times of 34:29.84 and 35:15.93 in the 10K. Haynes finished seventh while Pleban was ninth.
Daniel Murtha had a great run in the 110 hurdles running a time of 15.81 seconds in the final to finish third. He qualified with a time of 16.25 seconds in the preliminaries.
Zach Reed continued his strong start to the outdoor season in the 400 hurdles by running a season-best time of 57.34 seconds to finish second. Murtha was seventh with a time of 1:00.96.
Lauren Bunke had a big day finishing second in the 1500 meters and eighth in the 800. She ran 4:51.53 in the 1500 meters to qualify for MACs and the AARTFC.
Keri Jones was right behind her in 4:52.12 to finish third and qualify for both championships as well. Bunke ran 2:23.80 in the 800 to finished eighth. The women had four MAC qualifiers in the 10K and three of the top nine in
Marah Hoffman,
Lauren Wick,
Anna Donnelly, and
Taylor Laliberte. Hoffman finished sixth with a time of 42:06.83 while Wick was right on her heels with a time of 42:07.04 to finish seventh.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team of
Logan Grauer,
Owen Linder,
Zach Reed, and
Owen Buhr finished fourth with a time of 43.14 seconds. That's the fastest time in the conference so far this year. The women's team of
Hannah McCurdy,
Laura Good,
Alyssa Peiffer, and
Darrian Berkheimer finished sixth with a MAC-leading time of 51.25 seconds.
In field events
Ayden Stankus and
Darren Rodoff finished on the podium in the pole vault. Stankus cleared a season-best 4.05 meters (13'3.5") to finish third while Rodoff vaulted 3.75 meters (12'3.5") to finish sixth.
Josh Otto finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.56 meters (41'2.5") on his sixth and final attempt of the day.
Melena Koutch finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.52 meters (4'11.75").
Sidney Wike was eighth in the pole vault with a season-best height of 3.00 meters (9'10").
Olivia Sensenig found a place on the podium in the triple jump with a mark of 10.54 meters (34'7") on her second attempt to finish sixth. Her mark is fifth in the MAC.
Alyssa Betz had a MAC and AARTFC qualifying throw of 36.34 meters (119'3") in the discus to finish eighth.
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
The women had a great day in the field events with three women changing the record books. Sensenig's jump in the triple jump puts her eighth on the top 10 list. Wike moved into sole possession of eighth in the pole vault after her mark last week tied her with two others for the eighth best.
Ashley Bartels had a huge career best toss of 40.20 meters (131'11") in the hammer to move up from ninth to a tie for sixth.
Bunke and Jones each ran top 1500 meter times. Bunke's time was a career best and is seventh in program history. Jones entered the top 10 list at eighth behind Bunke with her time. Hoffman's 10K time put her ninth in the record books.
The men had a pair of record book performances as
Trey Reynolds threw the hammer 41.84 meters (137'3") which puts him 10th in program history. Buhr moved into the record books in the 400 meters as his time of 49.88 seconds is fourth.

The following student-athletes are qualified for the MAC Championships. Listed are their current ranks in the MAC and the meet they achieved their top qualifying result. Results in bold have also qualified for the AARTFC Championships. Those underlined are new qualifiers this week.
