ANNVILLE, Pa. –
Kate Fitzpatrick was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Rookie of the Year to headline the 2021-22 All-MAC Commonwealth Women's Basketball Team announced on Tuesday by the conference office. Fitzpatrick earned a place on the Second Team while Lebanon Valley junior
Kennedy Kuffa was selected as an Honorable Mention.
Fitzpatrick was the only first-year student-athlete to earn a spot on the All-Conference squad and was voted as the Rookie of the Year after an outstanding campaign where she led LVC and was fourth in the conference with 13.7 points per game. She becomes the seventh Dutchman to earn Rookie of the Year honors and the first since
Emily Mealey in the 2017-18 season. The guard was one of the top shooters in the conference finishing the season ranked 14th in field goal percentage at 37.6% and seventh in three-point field goals at 26.2%. She knocked down 33 three-pointers and was third in the conference with 1.7 per game. Fitzpatrick was also strong at the free throw line making 23 of 27 attempts. The Middletown, Pa. native pulled down 3.4 rebounds per game and 65 total including six on the offensive glass. She also provided the team with 34 assists and 24 steals in 19 games. She scored a season-high 26 points in a 63-46 victory over Eastern on January 19 and scored in double figures 14 times including four games with 20 or more points.
Kuffa had a spectacular junior season where she averaged 10.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game to earn her honorable mention honors for the second consecutive season. The guard finished the year ranked 13th in the conference in scoring but saw a lot of her production near the hoop where she pulled down 186 rebounds including 151 on the defensive end. She ranked 10th in the conference in total rebounds and eighth in defensive rebounds per game. Kuffa also had her presence felt with 31 blocked shots which put her seventh in the MAC Commonwealth and her 1.29 blocks per game were sixth. The Mechanicsburg, Pa. native added 47 assists and 23 steals throughout the season. She recorded six double-doubles during the year including scoring a season-high 23 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in a 66-60 loss to eventual conference runner-up Widener on January 30.
