ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's basketball team was voted to finish seventh in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Preseason Poll by the nine conference head coaches that was released on Thursday.
LVC received 24 points after finishing ninth in the conference standings last year. The Dutchmen defeated eighth-seeded York College of Pennsylvania in the opening round of the conference tournament before falling to Eastern University in the quarterfinals. Alvernia University topped the poll with 58 points receiving four of the nine first place votes. Eastern was second with 54 points and two first place votes. Widener University was picked to finish third with 49 points and two first place votes.
Messiah University was fourth with 47 points, defending champion Hood College was fifth with 32 points, and Stevenson University was sixth with 28 points. The Dutchmen were followed by Albright College in eighth with 23 points and the final first place vote. York rounded out the poll with 19 points.
The Dutchmen play a strong non-conference slate starting with an exhibition game at Division I Bucknell University on November 7. Lebanon Valley will begin the season at the Rinso Marquette Tournament on November 11 hosting Delaware Valley University. Conference play begins on November 30 as the Dutchmen hosts Albright at Sorrentino Gymnasium.
