ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley College men's basketball coach
Brad McAlester has announced
Luis Garcia,
Collin Jones, and
Jevon Griffin as captains for the 2022-23 season.
"I'm really excited about the three of these young men," McAlester stated about the trio. "They are excellent leaders as well as great student athletes."
Garcia is a guard who has played in 57 games over his first three seasons at The Valley making 38 starts including 18 last winter. He has 414 career points and 164 rebounds with 153 assists and 71 steals. The Reading native has average 7.3 points and 25.6 minutes per game in his career.
Jones is one of the top returners in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth after being named to the All-Conference First Team the past two years. Last year he was also selected to the NABC All-District Team and CoBL All-Area Team while averaging 21.5 points and 8.8 rebounds in 23 games. He scored his 1,000th career point in the conference tournament win at York College of Pennsylvania and enters the year with 1,022 career points, 452 rebounds, and 53 assists. The Lock Haven native has average 17.3 points and 30.4 minutes in 59 games during three seasons including 41 starts.
Griffin is a junior guard who played in 21 games last year making one start. He had 73 points for the Dutchmen averaging 3.5 while playing 10.8 minutes per game. He pulled down 20 rebounds and dished out eight assists with six steals. The North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina native shot 42.1 percent from the floor and hit 11 of 12 free throw attempts.
The Dutchmen will begin practice this Saturday morning in Sorrentino Gymnasium.
