ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley has announced that Jen Evans will be presented with the 2020 Hot Dog Frank Athletic Service Award.
The award was established by LVC administration in 1985 to honor the late Frank Aftosmes (1902-1994) for his many contributions to the Lebanon Valley College Athletic program. Aftosmes was an Annville businessman and devoted supporter of LVC Athletics whose statue now stands in the College's Peace Garden. Since its establishment in 1985, 37 individuals have been honored for their dedication and loyalty to the LVC Athletics family.
"Year after year, Jen Evans has been there to support our student-athletes and coaches for all major events within the athletic department", said LVC Director of Athletics
Rick Beard '90, M'92. "She has given countless hours of her own time to be sure our events are the best they can be. We can't thank her enough for the support and truly appreciate everything she does for us!"
Jen is the Director of Student Engagement here at LVC and oversees many operations under student engagement, including student government, student programming board, Dutchmen Day, over 90 clubs and organizations of Mund College Center, commuter programing, and she also assists with the planning of Valleyfest and orientation. Her door is always open for student questions and concerns, and she's a caring and hard-working individual who always put students' needs ahead of her own.
Jen began working at LVC in September of 1991. She earned her bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and master's degree from Shippensburg University. She and her husband, Mark, have three children: Tucker, Tanner, and Taylor. Tucker and Tanner played collegiate football, while Taylor is currently a junior on the Susquehanna University Women's Basketball team. Jen's husband, Mark, played football at the University of Miami.
The award is given annually at halftime of a men's basketball game, presented by the Aftosmes family and President Lewis Thayne, with the tradition of free hot dogs for all fans served between the men's and women's games. Jen will be honored at halftime of the LVC men's game against Arcadia on Saturday, Feb. 22. The women tip off at 2 p.m., with the men following at 4 p.m.
