How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. – Seven different Dutchmen scored as the Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team routed Alvernia 7-2 on Friday evening. The seven goals scored by LVC are the most in a single game in school history.
To start the offensive outburst,
Lainey Tarasiewicz found the back of the net for her first goal of the season in the first five minutes of action.
Taylor Brynteson found Tarasiewicz up top who was able to beat the goaltender from distance to put LVC up early. Just after the halfway point of the first period,
Mychaela Pitta would record another goal to double the Dutchmen lead. LVC would take the 2-0 lead into the dressing room after the first period.
In the second period,
Olivia Cindrich found the back of the net just 1:50 into the frame to extend the Dutchmen lead to three goals. Later in the period, Alvernia would go on the power play and take advantage of the opportunity as Olivia Gilida would find the back of the net to put the Golden Wolves on the board at the 8:48 mark of the second. Two and a half minutes later, Gilida would tally another goal to bring Alvernia within one goal. LVC would answer quickly with a
Chloe Glass strike just 1:23 later to push the lead back up to a pair. The Dutchmen would lead 4-2 with 20 minutes to play.
LVC would dominate the third period scoring three goals in the final stanza while shutting out the Alvernia offense. The Dutchmen got goals from
Jade Julius and
Allison DiPrato and a short-handed tally from
Rachel Havrylkoff in the final 14:50 of regulation to cruise to the 7-2 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- LVC scored a program-history record seven goals in the win with seven different players recording a goal in the game.
- Olivia Cindrich and Mychaela Pitta each scored giving them six goals on the season to co-lead the squad.
- The Dutchmen picked up a goal on the powerplay as well as short-handed goal on special teams. Alvernia picked up one powerplay goal on the day.
- Eight Dutchmen tallied assists in the win, Darby Seymour and Tate Murphy led the way with two helpers apiece.
- Jill Moffatt made 28 stops in net for the Dutchmen.
- The teams split the faceoff battle with each side winning 25 times.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen are home again tomorrow afternoon when they celebrate Senior Day in a matchup against Stevenson University. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Hersheypark Arena.
