Military appreciation night 2019

Military Appreciation Night Set for Friday, Feb. 8

2/6/2019 10:47:00 AM

HERSHEY, Pa. – On Friday night, Feb. 8, Lebanon Valley's men's ice hockey team will host its ninth annual Military Appreciation Night when the Flying Dutchmen host non-conference opponent Bryn Athyn College inside Hersheypark Arena at 7 p.m.

As the program has done in years past, LVC will be auctioning off unique jerseys that each player will wear for the special contest. Fans can bid on the one-of-a-kind sweaters here. Bidding is done only online, and closes at the conclusion of the game on Friday night.

Admission to the contest is free, but donations towards veterans' charities are greatly appreciated. Limited edition Lebanon Valley College Military Appreciation Night t-shirts will also be available for purchase at Hersheypark Arena on game night in the main lobby.

Proceeds from the jersey auction, a game-night silent auction, and the t-shirt sale will be donated to the Keystone Wounded Warriors and the LEEK Hunting and Mountain Preserve, both of which are dedicated to aiding veterans and their families in the state of Pennsylvania. LVC has raised more than $100,000 for the cause since the school's first Military Appreciation Night was held over nine years ago.

The night will culminate with the on-ice matchup between Lebanon Valley and the visiting Lions at 7 p.m. Servicemen and women are encouraged to attend the game. Lance Corporal Tim Donley, a member of the MusiCorps wounded Warrior Band, who lost both of his legs while being deployed in Afghanistan, will perform the National Anthem prior to the contest, and Grace Signor, a Jonestown Elementary third-grade student, will perform God Bless America following the anthem.

Also joining the special night will be LVC Cheerleaders, the LVC Band, and the LVC Dance Team. Throughout the game, a short blurb will be read about the Keystone Wounded Warriors, LEEK Hunting and Mountain Preserve, and Hope for the Homeless.

Following the contest, all in attendance are welcome to stay for an hour-long free skate on the ice at one of the world's most famous hockey arenas. In years' past, hundreds of LVC students and fans have joined Dutchmen ice hockey players in sharing the ice at Hersheypark Arena.
