How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lycoming College took down Lebanon Valley 48-3 on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Football action. The Warriors improved to 4-5, 3-4 MAC, while the Flying Dutchmen dropped to 3-6, 3-4 MACC.
 
Before today's game LVC honored its 20 seniors on Senior Day, which included Chance Atkins, Nick Bentz, Eamon Blythe, Patrick Clark, Tyeair Diggs, Jonah Edmondson, Chance Hayes, Jack Heft, Anthony Jenkins, Hunter McGuire, Wyett McLeod, Tyler Melhorn, Victor Morcelo, Tyler Okomba, Nick Redmon, Josh Skotek, C.J. Steinhilber, George Thompson, Hunter Wilson, and Brendan Yetter. Additionally, two senior cheerleaders were honored in Melissa Russell and Meagan Hart.
 
It was all Lycoming today right out of the gate and LVC got into an early hole that it could not dig itself out of. On the visitor's opening drive, Tyjah During broke off a 60-yard TD-run, making it a 7-0 game just 1:48 into the opening quarter. The Dutchmen then fumbled on their next drive, setting the Warriors up at their own 39-yard line. Lycoming put together another solid drive and reached LVC's 19-yard line, but Lyco's QB Elijah Shemory fumbled the ball and Josh Skotek recovered. LVC gained some momentum after the turnover, but the offense was unable to make a first down on its ensuing drive and punted to LVC's 40. From there, the Dutchmen's defense came through again when Pablo Aviles-Bernal and Wyett McLeod sacked Shemory for a four-yard loss on third and 13.
 
In the second quarter, after each team traded off a few punts, the Warriors went on a nine-play, 48-yard drive, capped by Joey Guida's two-yard rushing TD, and went ahead 14-0. Penalties hurt the Dutchmen's next drive and again, Lyco took advantage of its good field position. Shemory found Chase Cramer down the sideline for a 28-yard hookup, resulting in another touchdown that put the visitors ahead 21-0 in the later stages of the second quarter. After another Dutchmen punt, LVC's defense provided a spark when Brandon Brubaker picked off Shemory at LVC's 34-yard line with just 1:01 to go in the second. Kody Kegarise and the Dutchmen then shined in the two-minute offense and got all the way to Lycoming's 12, but on third down and four, Kegarise was looking for Tyeair Diggs, but Lyco's Austin Rowley broke up the pass and the Dutchmen settled for a Nick Bentz 29-yard field goal, which he knocked through as time expired in the second, making it a 21-3 game at the half.
 
With 9:11 left in the third, Kegarise's pass on second and 14 was intercepted by Sam Pittsman. Once again, the Warriors turned an LVC mistake into points when Shemory ran it in from one yard out on their next drive, putting Lyco ahead comfortably at 28-3. Later in the third, Shemory added another one-yard TD, and the Warriors then scored two more times in the fourth quarter and went on to win 48-3.
 
Inside the Numbers
 - Hunter Wilson rushed 13 times for 47 yards.
 - Tyeair Diggs caught a game-high eight balls for 69 yards.
 - Tyler Lutz led LVC's defense with 10 tackles, include one for a loss.
 - Brendan Yetter registered eight tackles, while Brandon Brubaker and Dillon Estes racked up seven apiece.
 - Lyco led in total first downs at 22-9.
 - The Warriors outgained LVC 515 to 202.
 - Lyco went 5-for-9 on third-down conversions and the Dutchmen were just 4-of-15.
 
Who's Next?
LVC will finish its 2019 season next Saturday, Nov. 16, when the Dutchmen travel to Albright (1-8) for the 99th all-time meeting between the two squads. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
