How It Happened
BOSTON, Mass. – Lebanon Valley took on the Pilgrims of New England College in the championship game of the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational. The Dutchmen fell to the Pilgrims 10-1, bringing its record to 6-4-2 and stopping the three game win streak. The Pilgrims advance their record to 8-3-2.
The first period started off with a bang for the NEC. Just 2:50 into the period New England launched one in between the pipes just seconds into the power play after LVC's Danny Galvez was called for tripping. The Pilgrims continued this trend as Mike Whitehair scored his first goal of the season 8:05. The Dutchmen lead the first with 17 shots on goal but couldn't find the back of the net.
The Dutchmen started off strong in the second as Travis Acker scored the first and only goal for Dutchmen on a power play 2:03 into the second. This was Acker's seventh goal of the season. The Pilgrims gained the momentum of the game and started to create a separation after back to back goals just over 13 minutes into the second. The energy created in the second carried through to the third period for the Pilgrims who scored a total of six unanswered goals.
