Winter Teams Gear Up For Postseason Play

2/19/2018 3:15:00 PM

ANNVILLE, Pa. – A trio of Lebanon Valley teams will begin postseason play this week. Women's basketball opens the action on the road on Monday night, while men's ice hockey and men's basketball start their playoff push at home on Wednesday night.

The women's basketball team finished the regular season 14-11 and 9-7 in conference play, good enough to earn the squad the No. 5 seed in the 2018 MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament. The Flying Dutchmen travel to take on No. 4 Stevenson in the tourney's play-in game this evening. LVC and the Mustangs split the season series, with SU earning a 68-51 win in December before the Dutchmen returned the favor with a 75-67 victory at Sorrentino Gymnasium last month. Nationally-ranked Messiah is the tournament's top seed, Albright is the two seed, and Lycoming is the No. 3. Fans can follow the action via live video and live stats, as well as on the radio at WMSS 91.1 FM and wmssfm.com.

Men's ice hockey finished off a strong 2017-18 season with a 12-9-2 overall record and 10-4-2 record in league play. For the program, this week's contest will be the first playoff game since returning to the NCAA Division III ranks two years ago. Lebanon Valley earned the No. 3 seed in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Championship Tournament and will host No. 6 Neumann at Hersheypark Arena on Wednesday night in opening round action. The Dutchmen went 1-0-1 against the Knights this season, earning a 7-6 home win last month after playing to a 3-3 draw in early November. Top-seeded Utica and No. 2 Stevenson earned first-round byes, while No. 4 Manhattanville will host No. 5 Elmira on Wednesday. Fans can follow the action via live video on LVCtv and live stats.

The men's basketball team went 16-9 this winter with a 10-6 mark in conference play. Thanks to a pair of victories over the weekend, LVC wrapped up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament and will host No. 3 Lycoming in the tourney's semifinal round at Sorrentino Gymnasium on Wednesday night. The Dutchmen handed Lyco its first loss of the season back in early January before earning a hard-fought 82-79 road win against the Warriors last Tuesday night. Thanks to a come-from-behind victory over Lycoming on Saturday, Albright earned the tournament's top seed. Messiah is the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Arcadia for play-in game action Monday night. Fans can follow the action via live video on LVCtv and live stats, as well as on the radio at WMSS 91.1 FM and wmssfm.com.

Admission to the men's basketball and men's ice hockey games on Wednesday night is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $2 for children and non-LVC students. Lebanon Valley students and children under the age of six will receive free admission.
