For a Cure
Each year through the annual Pink Game jersey auction, the sale of Pink Game t-shirts, a bake sale run by LVC's Colleges Against Cancer (CAC), and the accepting of donations on the night of the contest, Lebanon Valley raises thousands of dollars for charitable organizations that aid in the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer, including the American Cancer Society (ACS), the Genetics Program at the Penn State Health Cancer Institute, and the CAC's annual Relay for Life.

Guests of Honor
Every year prior to tip-off, the women's basketball team is joined on the floor of Sorrentino Gymnasium by a number of longtime supporters of LVC's endeavor to spread awareness of cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. Dr. Jeanne Donlevy Arnold and Ed Arnold will continue their generous backing of the College when they gather with head coach Amy Sokaitis, team captains Becky Evans and Anne Lehr, medical and administrative personnel from Penn State Health, and members of LVC's CAC chapter for a special check presentation ceremony. The Arnolds remain steadfast in their involvement in combating cancer and their presence at the Pink Game is an annual highlight of the event.

An Important Visit
In conjunction with the Pink Game, the women's basketball team pays an annual visit to the Penn State Health Breast Center in Hershey, Pa. for a guided tour of one of the nation's most impressive and renowned cancer treatment facilities. The informative sessions include a tour and overview of the health center's cancer genetics program. LVC's group is granted access to a variety of areas, including working medical rooms and treatment stations in which state-of-the-art detection equipment is housed. Dr. Maria Baker, who specializes in genetic counseling and medical genetics, developed and coordinates the Penn State Health Cancer Genetics Program. Medical personnel shed light on the facility's inner workings and brief the players and coaches in attendance on research progress as well as medicinal breakthroughs, particularly regarding breast cancer treatment.

Last Year
(Recap) In front of a packed house at Sorrentino Gymnasium, Lebanon Valley outscored Arcadia 21-10 in the final quarter to pull away and defeat the Knights 63-52 in the 10th annual Pink Game a year ago. Senior Lexie Lantz paced LVC's offense with 18 points and added six rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and a pair of steals. MAC Commonwealth All-Conference First-Teamer Hilary Yoh nearly recorded a double-double thanks to netting 12 points and pulling down eight rebounds.

Last Time vs. Widener
(Recap) Anne Lehr's jumper as time expired gave Lebanon Valley a thrilling 56-54 victory over Widener in the team's MAC Commonwealth opener in the first meeting between LVC and the Pride in late November. With 30 seconds remaining, Emily Mealey knocked down a jumper to give the Dutchmen a narrow 54-53 lead. On the ensuing play, Widener's Allison Gallagher was fouled with 17 seconds to go. She knocked down the first free throw but missed the second, leaving the game tied at 54-54. After an LVC timeout, the Dutchmen drew up a play before Becky Evans brought the ball down court and handed it off to Lehr, who drilled the jumper at the buzzer to seal the thrilling two-point win.

LVC Quick Glance
The Dutchmen have been heating up over the past few weeks and are winners of three in a row, including their most impressive victory to date; a 75-67 edging of MAC Commonwealth rival Stevenson on Wednesday night, Jan. 24. LVC currently sits 12-8 overall and 7-4 in conference play, with a great opportunity to secure a postseason berth in the coming days. Emily Mealey is the team's leading rebounder (7.4 rpg) and scorer with an 11.3 points per game average, while three others in Caroline Scarff (11.0), Becky Evans (10.4), and Anne Lehr (10.1) are also averaging double-digit scoring outputs per contest.

Widener Quick Glance
Widener is looking to end a recent four-game skid and keep its playoff hopes alive. The Pride are 9-10 overall and 3-7 in conference play. The squad is led by top scorer Allison Gallagher, whose 13.9 points per game average is two tallies higher than the team's next leading scorer. Madison Ireland is averaging 11.9 points per outing and an impressive 6.3 assists per game. Devan Rimmer is the third Widener player to average double-digits thanks to an 11.5 points per game output.

Playoff Positioning
LVC's most recent victory over Hood, combined with Stevenson's loss to Albright on Saturday afternoon, moved the Dutchmen into sole possession of fourth place in the MAC Commonwealth standings. If the season ended today, Lebanon Valley would host the Mustangs in the conference tournament's play-in game.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen look to continue to make headway in the MAC Commonwealth when they host longtime conference rival Albright on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 3.
