military appreciation night 2017

Military Appreciation Night Set for Friday, Dec. 8

11/30/2017 4:42:00 PM

HERSHEY, Pa. - On Friday evening, Dec. 8, Lebanon Valley's men's ice hockey team will host its eighth annual Military Appreciation Night when the Flying Dutchmen play host to Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) foe King's (Pa.) at Hersheypark Arena at 7 p.m.

As the program has done in years past, LVC will be auctioning off unique jerseys that each player will wear for the special contest. Fans will be able to bid on the one-of-a-kind uniforms online at GoDutchmen.com and in person at Hersheypark Arena on Military Appreciation Night.

Admission to the contest is free, but donations towards veterans' charities are greatly appreciated. Limited edition Lebanon Valley College Military Appreciation Night t-shirts will also be available for purchase on campus and at Hersheypark Arena, and will continue to be on sale until the end of the game on Dec. 8.

Proceeds from the jersey auction, a game-night silent auction, a basket raffle, and the t-shirt sale will be donated to the Keystone Wounded Warriors and the LEEK Hunting and Mountain Preserve, both of which are dedicated to aiding veterans and their families in the state of Pennsylvania. LVC has raised more close to $100,000 for the cause since the school's first Military Appreciation Night was held eight years ago.

The night will culminate with the on-ice matchup between Lebanon Valley and the visiting Colonels at 7 p.m. Servicemen and women from Fort Indiantown Gap have been invited and are encouraged to attend the game. A color guard will be in attendance, while the national anthem and a performance of "Taps" by Lebanon Valley students will take place prior to the start of the game.

Following the contest, all in attendance are welcome to stay for an hour-long free skate on the ice at one of the world's most famous hockey arenas. In years' past, hundreds of LVC students and fans have joined Dutchmen ice hockey players in sharing the ice at Hersheypark Arena.
