LVC Earns ECAC Tournament Bid; Faces Swarthmore In Opener

DANBURY, Conn. – Lebanon Valley has earned an invitation to the 2016 Eastern States Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Championship Tournament. It is the program's first ECAC bid since the 2010-11 season.

The Flying Dutchmen (16-10) were awarded the tournament's No. 7 seed and will travel to Swarthmore to take on the tourney's No. 2 seed on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in quarterfinal action. The Garnet (20-7) advanced to the Centennial Conference Championship before falling at No. 25 Franklin & Marshall 75-64 on Saturday night. LVC was last in action in a MAC Commonwealth Tournament Semifinal loss to Arcadia last Wednesday night.

The Knights earned the tourney's No. 4 seed after falling to Lycoming in the MAC Commonwealth Championship, while top-seeded DeSales has an opportunity to host the weekend's semifinal contests with a win over No. 8 Juniata in the opener.

The last time the Dutchmen earned an ECAC tournament berth, they won three games en route to an ECAC South Championship in 2011. LVC, the tourney's top seed and host school, defeated Marywood and Wesley in the opening rounds before topping Catholic 74-61 to clinch the title.
