Final ResultsGoMACSports.com Championship CentralMariah Smolka was named the Field Athlete of the Year to lead Lebanon Valley on the third and final day of MAC Outdoor Championships at Messiah.
Smolka won both the shot put and javelin championships to go with a hammer throw silver medal to earn the honor, leading LVC to a fourth-place finish with 111.5 team points. Smolka's winning throw of 138-11 in the javelin out-classed the field by more than 12 feet and smashed her own LVC record by 8 feet, 11 inches. The mark also puts her in the national conversation at 14th in NCAA D-III as well as being an ECAC-qualifying mark.Â
Decker Earns 400m SilverLauren Decker ran an ECAC-qualifying 57.37 to earn a silver medal in the 400m dash, completing a memorable weekend that also saw her anchor the gold-medal-winning 4x800 on Friday evening.Â
Jendrzejewski Earns Triple Jump Bronze With LVC Record A day after sixth-place finishes in the long and high jumps, Olivia Jendrzejewski made it bronze in the triple as she hit a best of 36-0.25 to break LVC's long-standing record. Her distance added an inch to LaToya Stewart's mark that had stood since 2006, and added more than a foot to her previous legal-wind best while qualifying for ECAC Championships.Calderone Medals In 100m HurdlesLaura Calderone ran the race of her lifetime in the 100m hurdles finals, stopping the clock at 16.13 seconds for a bronze medal and quarter-second PR.
Tabitha Litschi also qualified for the final and was eighth in 16.95. In the 400m hurdles, both
Alexa Muffly and
Kat O'Hara earned all-MAC certificates as Muffly was fifth in 1:07.09 and O'Hara sixth at 1:07.18. Both times were collegiate bests by over a second, and nearly two seconds in Muffly's case.
LVC Trio Finishes All-MAC In 1,500m, Stockdale In 5KThe Dutchmen qualified seven in the 1,500m, and three of them -
Alyssa Keich,
Sarah Grow, and
Teanna Shutt - earned second-team all-MAC finishes as they went 4-5-6, respectively. Keich led the way at 4:57.67, finishing just ahead of Grow (4:57.99) and Shutt (5:00.17). Both Keich and Grow recorded collegiate bests and LVC top-10 times.
Dana Stockdale snagged a fourth-place finish in the 5,000m run at 19:02.11, dropping four seconds from her career best set earlier this season.
Shutt Has A Busy DayFreshman
Teanna Shutt had a terrific debut MAC Outdoors, adding a fifth-place pole vault finish to her 4x800 gold and all-MAC 1,500m and 4x400 finishes. Shutt cleared 9-3, matching her collegiate outdoor best, to pick up all-MAC honors.
Brittany Wilson was judged seventh in the pole vault, also at 9-3.
Seiber Adds Another All-MAC MarkTaylor Seiber took fourth in the discus at 108-3, adding to her all-MAC finish in the hammer yesterday.
4x400 Caps Meet With Season-BestLVC's 4x400 ended the meet with an all-MAC fourth-place finish, running a season-best 4:08.63.
