RADNOR, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's and women's swim teams earned a sweep over Cabrini on Saturday morning, Nov. 7. Both squads picked up hard-fought victories with the women (2-1) taking it 108-97 and the men (2-1) winning by a 106-94 tally.
Erica Wise continued her strong freshman campaign, winning both the 50 free and 100 free, and narrowly missing out the program records set by
Jan Ikeda. Wise won the 50 free with a time of 25.49, just .11 seconds off the top mark, before taking the 100 free by touching in 55.96, only .77 off Ikeda's top time.
Ian Lloyd was stout on the men's side, picking up a pair of victories in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. He touched in 55.40 to win the fly and 1:00.54 to earn the back victory.
LVC began the meet with a pair of victories in the 200 medley relay as the women's team of
Madison Martin,
Lauren Skorupski,
Kendall Mehaffey, and
Emily Walak finished in 2:07.64, and the men's group of
Bryce Betz,
Bobby Burkhart,
Brandon Seigel, and
Nate Ginder won the race in 1:46.96.
Chris Kurtz earned nine valuable points for the Flying Dutchmen by winning the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.73. Clayt Heebner and
Blade Umstead finished 1-2 in the 100 free, with Heebner winning the race in 52.58 and Umstead coming home second with a time of 53.69.
Martin added another victory, this time in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.86, and
Kyra Valent's win in the 500 free (6:00.84) earned nine big points for LVC.
Skorupski and Burkhart closed the individual competition with wins in the 100 breaststroke as Skorupski touched in 1:17.54 to earn the victory by nearly six seconds, while Burkhart's 1:04.84 was good enough to seal the win by nearly two full seconds.
Heebner, Umstead, Lloyd, and Kurtz capped the men's second win of the season by winning the 200 free relay by more than five seconds over their Cabrini counterparts, combining for a 1:33.75 to seal the victory.
The Dutchmen are back in the pool next Saturday, Nov. 14 when they travel to King's to face off with the Monarchs and Albright at 1 p.m.
