ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley begins its 2015-16 campaign at the second annual Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Tournament presented by Hersheypark on Saturday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen face a talented Roanoke team at 3 p.m., following the hosts' matchup with Rutgers-Camden at 1 p.m. The tourney's championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon with the consolation contest taking place just before it at 1 p.m.
LVC's upcoming season looks to be a promising one as the Dutchmen return
Andy Orr, the reigning MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year, along with team captains
Kyler Burke and
Travis Conrad from a team that won 12 games a year ago.
Zach Mrozek, a key contributor last season, also returns for his junior season.
Returners including
Ricky Bugg,
Will Boccanfuso,
Collin Moore,
Steven Shaffer, and
Brett Gilbert showed potential a year ago and will have expanded roles this season, while two-sport athletes
Cyree Sutton-Ames and
Paxson Hayes will rejoin the Dutchmen following the completion of football season.
Lebanon Valley is also experiencing an influx of talented newcomers in 2015-16. Sophomore transfer
Sam Light will look to ease the loss of two-time all-American
Kevin Agnew at the point, while fellow local product
Andrew Eberhart will combine to make an imposing 1-2 punch in the post. Freshman
Tahir Wharton and sophomore transfer
Caleb Barwin give the team two more athletic big men and
RJ Kupsho,
Liam Brennan, and
Chris Anderson provide depth at the guard positions.
Be sure to check back next week in advance of LVC's 2015 Rinso Marquette Tournament for a special video preview highlighting the squad's upcoming campaign, complete with a sit-down interview with head coach
Brad McAlester.
