2014 Preseason Roster

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College football will welcome 43 newcomers to its roster when the Dutchmen open camp this August, as they look to defend their 2013 Middle Atlantic Conference championship.

The Dutchmen (8-3 in 2013) return three all-MAC performers, including all-American linebacker Frank Gaffney, running back Austin Hartman, and right guard Zach Smith. They start the season Sept. 6 at Franklin & Marshall.

Of the incoming class, 40 are freshmen, including LVC's first recruits from Florida, Jonathan Jones (Brandon/Plant City, Fla.) and Javon Nelson (Middleton/Tampa, Fla.), while three are transfers.

Four pairs of high school teammates make the jump to Annville with Exeter's Evan Lysczek and Ryan Vogel, Middletown (Md.) products Tim Pirrone and Tim Schumacher, Pine Grove's Ryan Heim and Guy Zimmerman, and South Western's Tyler Sterner and Brandon McMinn. Two other incoming freshmen join brothers already on the team - York Suburban's Steve Salcedo with rising junior John Salcedo, and Lodi (N.J.)'s Randol Almonte with rising sophomore Fernando Almonte.

Ten other newcomers will reunite with former high school teammates who are returning Dutchmen: Cocalico's Spencer Moser (Austin Hartman and Kevin Antol), Greensburg-Salem's Dylan Berberick (Anthony Sorbin), Lancaster Catholic's Jon Wentworth (Trevor St. Clair), Northern York's Colt Baxter (Travis Saylor), the Pine Grove pair of Zimmerman and Heim (Trent Mars and Adam Soltys), the South Western duo of Sterner and McMinn (Jeff Hacker, Ryan Dotson), Manheim Central's Joe Aument (Mike Smith, Reid Pavlik, and Alex Beamesderfer), and Warwick's Tommy Garner (DJ Johnson).

Transfers include quarterback Nick Cascarino (Rensselaer Polytechnic/Cedar Crest High School), punter Corey Wall (Misericordia/Northern Lebanon High School), and wide receiver Kyle Zimnik (Clarion/Delaware Valley High School). Cascarino did not make an appearance for RPI as a freshman but was a local stand-out at Cedar Crest; Wall punted for Misericordia in 2012 and had his best game at Arnold Field with a career-long kick of 63 yards; Zimnik red-shirted as a freshman last year at NCAA Division II Clarion.

With the incoming class, all six Lebanon County high schools with football will be represented on LVC's roster: freshman Robert Beidler (Annville-Cleona), junior Matthew Smoluk (Palmyra), sophomore Corey Wall (Northern Lebanon), senior Tyler George (ELCO), sophomore Nick Cascarino (Cedar Crest), and freshman Jeremy De La Cruz (Lebanon).
