Arcadia 81, Lebanon Valley 61
GLENSIDE, Pa. - Arcadia rode a second-half push and some hot shooting to frustrate Lebanon Valley in an 81-61 decision Tuesday night.
The loss combined with other results around the Commonwealth Conference on Tuesday knock the Dutchmen (9-15, 7-10 CC) out of postseason contention. Although LVC could finish in a tie for the fifth and final playoff spot if the teams ahead of it lost on Saturday, none of the potential tiebreakers fall in LVC's favor.
Kevin Agnew led LVC with 16 points, and
Joey Giangiobbe scored 10 while
Luke Berguson and
Mike Fasano scored nine apiece. The Knights were led by four starters in double figures, headed by John Landro's 17 and 16 from Torrell Candelaria. Arcadia shot 56.1 percent for the game, including a red-hot 62.5 percent after halftime as they found a 9-0 run to break the game open early in the second half.
Arcadia led wire-to-wire, scoring the game's first eight points. LVC got back into it and tied the game at 15-15 with a
Kyler Burke layup midway through the first half, but the Knights drained the next seven points to retake a lead they would not relinquish.
After leading by 10, 42-32, at halftime, Arcadia's early 9-0 run pushed their advantage to 20, and the Dutchmen couldn't find the momentum to get back into it as they struggled with 32.3 percent shooting in the second half and were largely kept off the line with an 11-for-14 night.
LVC will wrap up the season Saturday at home against Stevenson on Senior Day.
