ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley established four new program records, including two by freshman
Ian Lloyd, as they split with Elizabethtown in a non-conference meet Tuesday night.
LVC's men beat E-town 139-64, while the women fell 109-96 in a very close meet.
Lloyd smashed one of the oldest records on LVC's books in the 200-meter IM, then reset his 100-meter butterfly standard before helping break the 200-meter freestyle relay record. Freshman
Chris Kurtz was also in on two new records, both as part of the relay and individually in the 400-meter freestyle.
Lloyd won the 200-IM in 2:16.50, breaking Hall of Famer Howie Spangler's mark of 2:19.06 set back in 1993 by more than two and a half seconds to set a top-five time in the MAC this season. One event later, Lloyd reset his 100-meter fly record with a 1:00.31 win, leading three Dutchmen in the event ahead of
Clay Heebner and
Nate Ginder. His time shaved a quarter-second off the LVC record.
Kurtz notched his name in the recordbook with a 400-meter free win, touching in 4:25.32 to edge out the mark of 4:25.89 set by Kevin Carney in 2009. Lloyd and Kurtz teamed with
Ari Gouskos and
David Corvino to win the 200-free relay in 1:43.33, three-tenths under the mark set earlier this year led by Lloyd's lead-off split of 25.20, only eight-hundreths of a second off the long-standing LVC record in the 50-free.
Also for the men,
Bryce Betz picked up a win in the 100-meter backstroke, winning in 1:07.81 ahead of
Adam Brock in 1:10.82, while Gouskos and
Dan Weinel went 1-2 in the 50-meter free, with Gouskos winning in 26.05 and Weinel touching in 26.24.
Bobby Burkhart captured the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:11.54.
For the women,
Leslie Hiller picked up a win in the 50-meter free by nearly a second, in 30.04, and
Kendall Mehaffey won the 100-meter free in 1:07.54.
Alayna Kalinay was the 100-meter backstroke winner at 1:14.32
Both women's relays won, as the 200-meter medley relay (
Alayna Kalinay,
Lauren Skorupski,
Katie Frace, and Kendall Mahaffey) began with a 2:16.78 win and the 200-free relay (Skorupski, Hiller,
Marie Gorman,
Sabrina Fellenbaum) ended the meet by winning in 2:05.43. The women's meet was neck-and-neck until the penultimate event, but Elizabethtown the top two spots in both the 400-free and 100-breast to secure the win heading into the final relay.
LVC will visit Stevenson on Dec. 6.
