Elizabethtown 86, Lebanon Valley 84
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Elizabethtown ended the game on a 15-3 run, capped by Phil Wenger's game-winning floater with 1.1 seconds left, to erase a 10-point Lebanon Valley lead and win 86-84.
The Dutchmen (4-7, 2-3 CC) led 81-71 with 3:39 left in the game, but the Blue Jays (5-7, 2-3 CC) hit a 9-0 spurt over the next two minutes to storm back into the picture.
E-town shot a red-hot 63% for the game, including 67.9 percent in the second half and 7-of-15 for three in the game. LVC hit 51.9 percent of its shots, its fifth straight game over the half mark, but went cold down the stretch with 12-for-27 shooting after the break.
Kevin Agnew turned in another superb game, scoring 34 points (23 in the first half) with a 12-for-14 night at the line.
Joey Giangiobbe had a season-high 21 with eight rebounds and four assists, and
Mike Fasano pitched in eight points as he returned to the starting lineup.
Wenger paced E-town with 21 points, and Will Schlosser had 20, including a key three-pointer with 1:50 remaining to make it a one-point game.
Elizabethtown ran out to a fast start, leading 19-9 six minutes into the game before a 17-5 LVC run - including 12 points from Agnew - erased the deficit and gave the Dutchmen a 26-24 lead at the midpoint of the first half. LVC built the lead from there, using 22 points in the paint to take a 46-39 lead into halftime.
It appeared LVC would pull away in the second half as they took their largest lead at the 6:34 mark, 77-62, following a pair of Agnew free throws. A two-minute scoring drought let the Blue Jays cut the lead to single digits, however, and after Fasano made a layup to put LVC ahead 81-71 with 3:39 left, the home side scored the next nine points to make it a one-point game, capped by Schlosser's three.
Giangiobbe and Tommy James traded inside buckets inside of two minutes, and after
Kyler Burke made one of two free throws, Lee Eckert tied the game on a layup with 17 seconds left. LVC never got another shot as Wenger induced a turnover off the inbounds, then held for the final shot and hit with 1.1 seconds to go. LVC's last-ditch try was deflected at the buzzer.
LVC visits Stevenson on Saturday.
