Stevenson 86, Lebanon Valley 72
OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Kevin Agnew scored 31 points, but an early second-half run by Stevenson put the game out of reach as Lebanon Valley fell 86-72 in Commonwealth Conference action.
The Dutchmen (4-7, 2-3 CC) couldn't come back as the Mustangs (9-3, 4-1 CC) scored the first 14 points of the second half, riding 20 points and eight rebounds by Erik Fisher.
Agnew, the nation's second-leading scorer coming into the weekend at 27.7 points per game, upped his average further as he went over 30 points for the third consecutive game - something no Dutchmen has done since Andy Panko '99. He helped LVC to a 20-for-23 day at the line while shooting 10-for-21. Luke Berguson added 10 points and five boards and Mike Fasano had nine points off the bench.
After falling behind by 10 early in the game, LVC cut into the lead with a Vince Soto three-pointer and a pair of Agnew free throws to end the first half down 41-35. That would be as close as LVC would get the rest of the game, however, as the Mustangs started the second half on a 14-0 run, shutting down the visitors for more than five minutes before Joey Giangiobbe converted a three-point play 5:07 into the half.
LVC never had a chance to get into the game as Stevenson kept things in double digits for the balance of the half. Stevenson out-rebounded LVC 42-30 and recorded 14 steals off 22 Dutchmen turnovers.
Lebanon Valley returns home to face Lycoming Wednesday night.
