Arcadia 77, Lebanon Valley 61
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Arcadia established an early lead and never let up, spoiling Lebanon Valley's senior night with a 77-61 decision on Tuesday night.
The Dutchmen (9-15, 6-11 CC) were officially eliminated from playoff contention with the setback after an inspiring run that saw them climb back in with two games left to play. The Knights (14-10, 9-8 CC) improved their chances greatly thanks to the win and a number of other results around the league that broke their way.
LVC honored seniors
Danny Brooks,
Matt O'Brien, Sam Diaz,
David Corbin, and
Garrett Kelly, as well as senior manager Wiltssy Payero, before the game as they played for the final time at home. The Dutchmen end the season Saturday at Stevenson.
It was a junior that led the way for the Dutchmen,
Joey Giangiobbe, as he scored 14 with 10 boards, one of two double-doubles for LVC along with Brooks' 12-11 line. O'Brien pitched in 11 points and three steals, but LVC was held to just 35.3% from the floor while Arcadia shot 49.2%, including 7-for-15 for three. Four Knights - led by Aaron Lee-Webb's 19 and Joseph Brown's 17 - scored in double digits.
LVC kept it close for most of the first half, tying the game several times, but Arcadia stole the momentum with a last-second Brown three-pointer, then carried that into the second half to start on an 8-3 run to take control of the lead. A later 10-1 spurt midway through teh period following a
Ryan Kinard three-pointer turned a 56-49 lead into a 64-50 advantage, and that proved insurmountable for LVC in the closing minutes.
