Lebanon Valley College 2, Arcadia University 0

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Sammy Bost and junior Amanda Douglass connected twice for scoring tallies as the Lebanon Valley women's soccer team took care of Arcadia on Tuesday afternoon, 2-0, in the Commonwealth Conference Quarterfinals.

With the win, the Valley advances to the semifinals for the third straight season, traveling to top-seeded Messiah on Thursday for a 7 p.m. start.

Bost opened up the scoring in the 24th minute as her initial shot off the cross from Douglass was saved by the foot of Arcadia's Jackie Law, an All-Conference First Team selection. Bost stayed with it, though, sending her second shot into the back of the net for the early 1-0 advantage.

That score held through the halftime break before Douglass and Bost found each other again in the 52nd minute. A streaking Douglass sent a beautiful cross around three Arcadia defenders, finding Bost all alone on the far side. The rookie sent it to the top netting with authority, sealing the game at 2-0 with an insurance tally.

The game was Bost's second multi-goal game of the season after posting a hat trick against Lycoming on Oct. 9. Douglass' two assists were good enough for her second multi-assist and multi-point game of the year with her first also coming against Lycoming, when she tallied one goal and two assists.

Senior goalkeeper Becca Sykes and the LVC defense were stout throughout the day, posting their eighth shutout of the season. Sykes picked up the win, making 13 saves between the pipes, while Bost was the leading shot-taker for the Dutchmen with four shots. Senior Lindi Crist added three shots and Douglass recorded two shots.

The Valley held a 19-13 advantage in shots overall and took part in two of just three corner kicks combined in the game.
